Is there anyone who is currently selling or stocking new MinAir kits? I'm really wanting to make the jump from my defunct thundertiger fleet to something current and readily available but I'm not having good luck in my search so far. I see 'Pre Order' as stock status on all kits. Is that the same as backorder or does it mean these are made and shipped to order? Thanks in advance for any help.

Jack,

Talk to Scott at Cajun Aircraft. He's a good guy and will steer you in the right direction.

I don't know if he has kits in stock, but Cajun is the U.S. Distributor, and the folks with the answers. I'm not sure if you're referring to them has having them on pre-order or not. As for your other questions, your best bet is to ask Scott. I'd just be speculating!

Thanks for your advice JB. Yes, I just checked and Cajun shows them as 'Pre Order' as well. If anyone has a used Whiplash Gasser airframe they'd like to sell at a reasonable price please feel free to PM me.

Ok, I thought so. Shoot Scott an email; He's very responsive. Since they're the U.S. Distributor, you would be getting info directly from the horse's mouth.

I would wait for the new version that fixes the weak points of the original design.

Thanks for that Tom. Is the v1 really that bad/weak? I was just thinking I might be able to get an airframe a bit cheaper if people are now wanting the latest version or to upgrade.

V2 is not proven yet, but the design changes address the original issues. The tail gears have been improved to decrease chance of stripping, OWB moved to main shaft (the major issue) and a solid bell to cure the liner slipping.

The V1's flew very nice, the changes should help keep it in the air. The only thing I am not crazy about with the new design is the crown gear tail drive, time will tell on ease of the setup and durability.

Hey Jack. I've have both talked to Scott at Cajun Aircraft and I've ordered from MA in Germany.

Scott at Cajun is in the US distributor and is able to ship parts quite a bit quicker and at reduced shipping costs than ordering from Germany.

There is the possibility that Cajun Aircraft doesn't have what you want and it isn't economically feasible for them to stock it. The last part I order from MA was a $100 auto unit an older Tempest - not something anyone might keep on hand. You can write Scott and see if he can have what you are looking for in a reasonable period of time or order direct from Germany.

"Well, Nothing bad can happen now."

V1 vs V2

V1 flies very well, you could replace all the gears with V2 quality gears though to be honest they way I fly I never had issues with V1 gears.

One way bearing in the V1 was an issue, but Josef came up with a new one way bearing and oil for the V1 and I have that in my Whiplash for a year and a half now. Over 300 flights and its still working. I oiled it once when I put it in, then about a month ago it starting hanging up in an auto (not releasing) I oiled it again and its working normally again.

V2 will have a different bell, but again the original bell I never had issues with. Still with the original liner in there and I don't even have the pinned liner one. Maybe the way I fly its not a problem, (headspeeds at 1900 or less), it doesn't slip or cause me any problems.

About the only problems I've had was the original one way letting go and catching again in flight stripping some gears. That and the "nah nah" which are also gone now.

A new one will be nice but if someone wants to get rid of a used one for a good price that won't be bad either. Still in my opinion the best and most locked in 3D gasser out there.

Thank you for all the information Raja, you are a great spokesman for the brand. I've wanted one since I saw yours in Surry, honestly! The quality, and the look of the machining and fit was amazing to me compared to my current helis. I think I would be very happy with the V1 to start and am working on finding one now

Awesome Jack!

You won't be disappointed for sure, every day I fly that machine, including today, I'm reminded of how excellent of a machine it is. 37 flights now on my V2 with the Hanson 300/Zimmerman pipe and it has been great, all gears and the main gear one way holding up perfectly I don't anticipate any issues.
