There's a video making the rounds, of a hammock suspended under a very large quad. And people are going nuts.

I saw it once, and it was funny. Now I have friends who've actually flown stuff, showing me like it's real.

I hate it and I'm not even dignifying it by posting a link. I just wanted pop on here and nip that right the bud for our newbies.

Think about how much air the little quads move just to stay airborne. This is being suspended by a crane and those fans are gently blowing for cosmetic effect.

heliraptor10,, don't worry about it, I once had a guy tell me that he was going to build a "Full Size" Quad and once the testing and R&D was done he was going sell the design for $5 mill, he then said "I'm going to do it", I asked him who we was going to get to test fly it and he pointed at me, LOL I told him "I don't think you are being realistic about it". BTW, this guy never flew anything.

it's called "Delusions of Grander"

I don't know why this is so outlandish. The Heligraphix guys already proved you can lift someone with just two 700-class electric helis.

Watch at YouTube

The only unrealistic part is the flight time. Unless you have a better battery system or some other lightweight energy storage getting sustained flight times is going to be the major issue.

Oh, and safety...

Never said it wasn't possible.
I'm even happy to discuss how to do it.

But I didn't want to see the discussion and ensuing arguments of noobies who think THAT was real.

Did anyone see the video of the quadcopter pulling a snowboarder around. Well he held onto the tow rope someone else flew it. It looked like a big one. But it picked him up. On the video.

That Santa video is real. There is a companion video that details how everything was done. Yes he was about 40-60feet in the air. He was cabled from the multi-rotor to a harness strapped to his torso. It is discussed in another thread here on RR.

Very dangerous kiddies, don't do this at home. It might not even be legal without registering aircraft as experimental, etc..

FAA will not just allow anyone to fly around in an unapproved aircraft. The UAS pilot would also have to have a commercial license in this case.
