Assuming that everything is plugged in correctly, you might need to reverse the throttle channel for the Talon to initialize.

Have you calibrated it to the transmitter?

Most likely the issue.

Right from the Talon 90 User Manual......

Note to users with a Futaba transmitter: You must reverse the throttle
channel signal on your transmitter. Please refer to your Futaba instructions
and exercise extreme caution when first powering your ESC.

Still no joy

Hello,

I have a CC Talon 90 supplied in an Align Dominator 550L Super Combo with Microbeast PLUS. I am using a Futaba 14 SG and R7008SB in a standard setup (no SBus). My battery is direct connected 6S 5000 mAh 60C, no external BEC. In the Microbeast quick setup, I have only gone until setup menu point M- collective pitch. I disregarded setup menu point N onwards as I don't intend to use internal RPM governor.

In the Futaba 14 SG, I selected REVERSE in throttle channel as instructed then set throttle stick to center or middle position before connecting the 6S battery. The six beeps sound confirming the 6S battery and a repetitive flashing red light is emitted by the ESC. When I set to low throttle stick, the flashing red continues. When I move the throttle stick up, nothing happens, the motor doesn't turn.

Please help me to initialize, arm or calibrate this ESC.

Thanks.

If you get the beeps without the arming tone, then that means that the throttle endpoints need to be calibrated to the esc.

Set your throttle curve 0, 25, 50, 100.

Throttle up, plug in battery, wait for beeps to finish.

Raise high endpoint until you hear another set of beeps.

Lower throttle, another set of beeps will ring.

Lower low endpoint until you hear the arming noise.

At this point the motor is now armed, spool up safely.

Endpoints Futaba 14SG

First I tried the quick start as described in the Talon Quick Reference guide, as described in the post. Then I did some research on YouTube and found the endpoint setting procedure for a similar tx, 12FG. I followed the steps, set throttle curve, reverse throttle channel, link menu, endpoints, throttle channel and set the two middle columns to an initial value of 30 and proceeded as instructed in the video. Still no joy, still a red flashing LED fault code.

Photos of 14SG

My Futaba 14SG setup prior to energizing the ESC. Here they are:

Then I switch the Tx off, switch the Tx on, set full throttle up stick and energize the ESC by connecting the main 6S 5000 mAh batteries. The main blades and tail blades are off for safety.

The Microbeast arms and initializes. The Talon 90 emits 6 audible tones to confirm the 6S. I slowly increase the second column value in the Tx endpoint THR channel from 30 up to 110 where the beeping audio tone starts to sound, then add two more points to 112 as instructed.

Next, I move the throttle stick to the minimum low position. The tone sets off right away at the initially set 30 value. When I try increasing the 30 in the third column of four columns, nothing happens.

The whole time, the ESC LED light anunciator is emitting a series of red flashes.

Throttle stick should be at 0 to arm ESC or use throttle hold set to 0

Your end points should be 100 unless other wise stated by the TX calibration done with the flight controller

Looking at the video shouldn't your throttle end points on the right be -100%
Use a linear throttle curve to set up the ESC
ATM it does not know where max throttle is or 0 throttle

It takes only minutes to do this step all you use is the throttle stick. Using a linear throttle curve put the stick to max to enter set up mode then lower it to 0 to set ESC. its done that easy. If that doesn't work then reverse the throttle channel. Use the default endpoints to start.

From what I can see on the video, it looks like you didn't set the end point on throttle low. That beep you heard is the ESC telling you that it's ready to listen for low throttle. You have to increase the end point for throttle low until it actually arms itself.

Second video with low endpoint

So as you can see at 5:00 minutes onwards, I tried to set also the low endpoint but couldn't get it done.

Watch at YouTube

So based on the video and my transmitter settings, what should be my next step in the troubleshooting process? The Talon error code seems to suggest that there might be something wrong with the motor and its wiring. Is there a way to confirm this? Is there a safe way To directly connect the motor to a battery without using an ESC in order to verify if the motor and wiring are functioning properly?

Thanks!

leave your end points at 100
enable flight mode 3 or program a linear throttle curve 0,25 50,75,100

put the stick all the way up and then plug in the battery
ESC should enter set-up mode if NOT the reverse throttle channel
after you enter setup mode lower the stick all the way down
unplug the battery.
that's it you're done.

now test

also you T hold is incorrect it should read 0% not 17%

as for testing the motor only an ESC will work. also the beeps from the motor would be very low sound if there was a bad connection

Hi,

Sorry, I don't understand the relevance of IDLE UP 3 but I will give that a try out of desperation. I also tried the throttle hold to 0 instead of the default 17 without success. Also, in my 500L with Align ESC, the hold was left in the default 17 and it functions normally.

Another possibility that comes to mind is that I might have inadvertently entered the ESC into transmitter stick programming mode. If I did (I'm starting to feel really dumb now, duh, pardon me), is there a way to reset it back to the Align factory settings?

Here is the linear throttle curve in normal I programmed as well as the 0 setting in throttle hold
