Anything else?

Let it all out in one go... and relax.

The speaker or lack of has been like that since I started using the FF9.

For some reason Futaba don't do LOUD.

I am not disappointed in the least
I knew it beforehand ("It helps to research stuff)"
I find talking transmitters distracting and annoying

I didn't think I'd like a "talking" transmitter, either. I had been using a very long in the tooth, 9C, that started having an issue with the only sound it made: it's beeper was getting harder and harder to hear. Of course, it may be my hearing starting to go south, too.

When researching new transmitters, I wanted something I could hear. I didn't need it talking to me, just a loud beeper for when it's time to land. I made a purchase of a not so popular brand, as far as helicopter fliers go. I'm happy with it. I did set it up to speak at one minute of flight to go, at 30 seconds, 20 seconds and 10 seconds and then beeps at one second intervals until a long beep at 0. It also has haptic feedback, so the transmitter vibrates along with voice or beeps.

It's loud enough to hear over all my electrics, nitros and even a gasser hovering 20' out.

I've also added voice alerts when switching flight modes: "Normal mode", "Idle Up 1", "Idle Up 2" and "Throttle Hold" I've learned to like the added security of knowing what flight mode I'm in, besides just flipping a switch.

Well get rid and move on.

No point being disappointed when it is a hobby after all.

Thank you Richardmid1 but that thing plugged in the back of a radio is just asking to be broken off and kill the Tx. ...wish it would work but I don't want an ungodly speaker hanging around.....just a nice "self contained speaker in the radio ...as to the research i saw it had voice so thought it would be up to pair with the other Mfg's standards ..even my spectrum 6i has voice WITH A SPEAKER built in to the Tx. so the futaba is a fail when it comes to voice ....the voice part is a scam at best i saw no "disclaimer" about having to have an external speaker device when doing my

The 18SZ is 1 grand.

If I remember correctly, the 14SG when it was originally released did not have voice prompts, nor was it marketed as having that feature. Voice was added in a software update. I could be wrong on that.

And because of this fact, the talking feature POST dated the hardware. Making the transmitter talk would have required a hardware redesign. For those with the radio, being able to add speaking telemetry by using a small add on speaker is preferable to having to by a new transmitter.
