Guys, I would not search too hard for a low capacity SD card. I use a 32GB Sandisk in my 18MZ with no issues.

I suspect anything that will format to FAT 32 is fine. Don't remember how big that goes.

What is the format for your 32 GB ? The 18MZ may be smarter than we think.

Well it looks like 32GB is in fact the FAT 32 limit. So it makes no difference if you have a 4 GB or 32 GB.

With my 4GB card in the radio and the latest firmware update and a few models backed up on the SD card I still have enough free space for 17,044 more models. I think I'm good for a while....

With my 12Z I had all of my models and 10 years of updates on a 1 MB CP. But if you can't find a small one, then up to 32 GB is OK. Of course I am just guessing that MS DOS FAT32 is the only thing the 18MZ can read.

Anyone have a non-FAT32 SD working ?

Futaba T18 MZ update - help wanted!

Hallo ,
Gents thank you for all feedback but I still have some questions - My 18 MZ radio is new ( old stock) so it is SD card issue and operator . I have learned so far that San Disck is good SD card & it has to be formated in MS Dos Fat 32 - up to 32 GB. So far so good - Now once I upload and unzip file from Futaba web page to my MAC , I need to reformat SD card to Fat 32 and now - do I need to copy whole content of the folder to the card or just a portion of it. Sorry fo dumb question here but I am not a computer geek.
Regards,
Hirobodude

I usually just copy everything. Make sure you closely follow the update instructions because the radio is particular about how it "sees" the update files. If not there the way it wants it, the radio is going to say something like can't find update file. Remember to flip the little switch in the MZ.

Futaba T18 MZ update help wanted!

Hallo,
Dr. Ben thank you for tunning in and again good advice - I started whole tread cause my frustration with update process reached boiling point.
First SD card issues then formating on MAC issues then 18 mz Tx want read the card then finally when I saw a progress bar on radio screen I tap myself on the back and it start loading ... Uh Ohhh No !!!!
I got message Update failure The update files are not compatible with transmitter. WTF My rage was eating me from inside out.
So I started a whole tread here and still I am at the same spot.
Radio TX seams got updated but it reads as follow:

Editor Version: 2.7.0
Encoder Version: 2.0

And in pdf which came with update I found that should say:

Encoder Version: 2.3

What is wrong or rather What am I doing Wrong ????

Can anyone explain step by step ?
Please PM me cause I do not want to embaras myself here more that I already did.
Cheers,
Hirobodude

Would you like for me to just lend you my SD card with current firmware on it before you drive yourself to drinking?
