very sad...wonder how George Lucas plans on getting the next installment (After the force awakens) done without Carrie... granted he knew she was not doing well for quite some time. I dont think CGI for General Leia is going to do her role any justice should there be a need for her in the next installment... should there even be one.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

It is front page news today that she had drugs in her system.
She probably would still be making great stuff if she had left the junk alone. Very sad end to an icon.

Better than all the morons that try to justify drug/alcohol abuse. It takes hold and sometimes kills the weak. Truth hurts.

Dorthy (that had a little dog named Toto) was a drug addict also, go figure, little innocent Dorthy,,, she had drugs in her system when she died,, like many other rich and famous people

Cary Grant did LSD somewhere around 100 times, he did it under the care of a Doctor, each time the Dr spent the first 5 hours with Mr, Grant as he was on it, so many times he went home still under the effect of the LSD

I didn't want to believe it either. I mean, she is a spectacularly great lady who saved all of humanity and many other civilizations on faraway galaxies from terror and complete annihilation at the hands of the dark side.

"Very sad end to an icon."

It is....and she wrote a couple of books about her demons.

And, there is no comparison in any way, shape, form, or fashion....but.....

Marine Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington was an alcoholic.....as he wrote about between the lines, in his autobiography "Baa Baa Black Sheep".

In his book, he said that the only time in his life he was sober was when he was held captive(he wasn't ever listed as a POW) by the Japs during WW2.

He was initially awarded his medal of honor posthumously....because he went MIA and they thought he was dead.

Then, as he put it, he turned up like a bad penny....and they gave it to him in person.

The last line in his book was...."You show me a hero....and I'll show you a bum"....

Ha, haa, hahaahahhahahah!

I have known many heroes....and yes, some of them had drinking issues. But none of them were ever 'bums'.

My mistake sir. I will take a look at it.

I did get the opportunity to Meet Hal Moore. What a great guy...made an impression on me that will last.

Col. Moore...have seen him on the documentaries...never had the pleasure of meeting him.

If you do get Boyington's book, also get Frank Walton's, too.

It's entitled "Once We Were Eagles".....Walton was Boyington's XO....and VMF214 members were angered by the Hollywood portrayal of the VMF214....and that they were "screwballs"....and by Boyington's being in the series.

The only "screwball" was Boyington....and Boyington tells that in his book.....I've met Tex Hill several times and he has some tales on this subject.

After captivity, he fell off the wagon....and stayed off until his death.

The books are in paperback....
