So I got a used Trex 450 pro and it has been hovering fine since. I have mainly been doing hovering, and mini autos. I did a few pirouettes but nothing hard on the tail. Yesterday I started losing tail control and landed the heli. I then tried to take back off and I had lost all tail control. I looked over and noticed the Torque Tube Drive Gear and the Long Umbrella Gear(On the Tail boom Mount) totally stripped. Main I am so happy I got it on the ground prior to it crapping out.

I have lost two heli dues to Torque tube loosing the gears, this would have been a third . I think I might start liking belts more .

I know I do not know the history of the heli from the prior user, but how long do these gears last?

they can last a very long time depending on how well you mesh the umbrella gears. and if you don't catch the tail in something.

Belts do have an advantage in this regard

spending time, paying attention

Ok. I did not check the gap on the gears when I purchased it so that could have been the problem.

Thanks
