It is with great sadness that I must make you all aware of the passing of our dear friend, Mr. Steve Helms. May of you here will know of whom I speak immediately. Others of you may not have known him personally but nonetheless knew him in a way every day you flew your models, because his vast knowledge was so instrumental in the development of such products as the OS pressure regulated fuel system.

Toys are toys, but Steve was more importantly one of the finest people I have ever known. He was my friend, and words cannot adequately describe how much he will be missed.

Please keep Steve's wife Mollie, his granddaughter, and his son in law in your prayers this evening.

Ben Minor

Edit: Please see arrangement details further down.

Steve Helms was one of the great elder statesman of our hobby. For many, many years, Steve was the heart and soul of Futaba/O.S. in the USA. He was a pioneer, innovator, and a true gentleman.

It was a pleasure to have known him.

Great Sadness

I am so fortunate to have had Steve as a good friend for more than 20 years, from the time he was at Radio South in Florida, to Futaba in California, and then Huntsville. He was a true gentleman and was a very positive influence on RC modeling in the United States and was respected world wide. Our prayers go out to his wife, son in law, and granddaughter.

This indeed was very sad news. There just is not proper words in the English language to describe this true gentleman and icon of the RC industry. HE will be sorely missed. My condolences to his wife and others of his family.
