President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday that the head of Japanese telecoms and internet firm SoftBank Group had agreed to invest $50 billion in the United States toward businesses and create 50,000 new jobs.

Trump stopped in the lobby of Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he has been meeting with advisers and potential Cabinet picks, along with SoftBank Chief Executive Masayoshi Son.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Masa from SoftBank of Japan, and he’s just agreed to invest $50 billion in the United States and 50,000 jobs," Trump said.

Son told reporters his company would create jobs by investing in start up companies in the United States.

"I just came to celebrate his new job. We were talking about it. Then I said I would like to celebrate his presidential job and commit, because he would do a lot of deregulation. I said this is great. The United States would become great again,” Son said.

"We are going to invest $50 billion into the U.S. and commit to create 50,000 new jobs," Son said.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son's declaration in Trump Tower that he was investing $50 billion in the U.S. sounded like a big bet on President-elect Donald Trump.

The reality is that SoftBank has been all-in on the U.S. for years.

In addition to its majority ownership of wireless carrier Sprint, SoftBank is a fixture in Silicon Valley. Last year, the company led a $1 billion investment in online lender SoFi, calling it a "game changer in the fintech space." In October, SoftBank spearheaded a $130 million financing in Zymergen, a start-up that's combining automation and biology.

According to CB Insights, SoftBank has participated in 13 private company deals since the beginning of 2014, totaling $2 billion. Way back in 1996, SoftBank partnered with Yahoo to form Yahoo Japan.

Son, who founded SoftBank in 1981, visited Trump on Tuesday for a meeting with the incoming president. Trump sent out two tweets immediately following the meeting saying that Masa — as he's known — had committed to investing $50 billion in the U.S.

Trump again is claiming glory hoping folks will not know the truth ( this should be classified news )

P.s. how can Trump cancel a new airforce one jet, if one was never ordered. The existing jumbo jet is 26 years old, it's life expectancy is 30 years
Reuters reported that Boeing has not begun building the two replacement aircraft for the current Air Force One, and has not been awarded the money for them. The company is currently working on design and engineering for the aircraft.

"We are currently under contract for $170 million to help determine the capabilities of these complex military aircraft that serve the unique requirements of the president of the United States," Boeing said in a statement.
Another fake news by Trump

What you cut and pasted has NOTHING to do with at all with Softbank investing $50 billion and creating 50,000 new jobs.

This is a direct quote from Softbank:

"We are going to invest $50 billion into the U.S. and commit to create 50,000 new jobs," Son said.

^^^Total dribble.

Trump said the cost was out of control. Trump's $4 billion figure is close to correct for a finished product.

I guess Trump figures he can ride in a 30 year old plane if our planes with nukes are over 50 years old. The youngest B52 will be 55 years old in 2017.

You do realize trump is never on par with the complete truth, Trump mentioned 4B for an aircraft it's actually two.
The real reason for the order is the current model is no longer being produced and parts will an issue.
Guess Trump failed to mention this, guess he wants to screw the future president, that's how long it will take to build and retrofit, also the aircraft will mostly be manufactured in the US.
Read below for more details
So during his second term, President Barack Obama ordered a replacement fleet. (By tradition, a president does not order planes that he will expect to use personally.) Since the old model of the basic aircraft isn’t being made any longer, a new one had to be created. The new model will be based on the Boeing 747-8, with four engines and two floors.

Trump’s tweet referenced one plane, but the Air Force One program will actually produce two planes, not one. That allows one to undergo maintenance while the other one is available.

Of course, Air Force One is more than just a plane. It’s also a mobile command center, with state-of-the-art communications and safety features.

The plane must be able to refuel while flying, and the president and his staff need to have communications capabilities equivalent to what is in the Oval Office -- secure video conferences, classified computer access, and nuclear-strike controls. It also needs robust defensive systems such as missile evasion. So during his second term, President Barack Obama ordered a replacement fleet. Semantics is a game we all can play, but is usually only played by those who are either incapable of understanding the entire conversation as a whole (ignorance or naivety), or are simply too close minded or too lazy and dont want to take the effort to understand what is being stated.

Of course I understand it is two aircraft and so does Trump. There are always two AF1's even though AF1 is only used when the President is on board.

That's total horse poop. B52's were made in the 50's and they fly daily around the world. Existing airplanes are retrofitted every day.

A total of 744 B52 were initial put into service

but today only 76 remain in service, and not all are flight ready only 58.
the remainder are used for parts and scrap.
in addition the B52 were designed for Military use only and Boeing is still enjoying maintaining these remaining aircraft, which is continuously being upgraded and retrofitted, under great cost.

http://www.fi-aeroweb.com/Defense/B...-MOD-FY2017.pdf

While the 747 is a commercial aircraft, and AF1 has been extensively retrofitted for the presidents use, basically a command centre in the sky, with inflight refueling.

The next president is going to be really pissed, flying around in a junker

But you are forgetting about Krispy Kreme. Also, Duct Tape and Super Glue have just been awarded a $5 billion US Govt contract, so all should be good.

Good...these DC elites need to travel a little lower on the scale anyway.

If 50+ year old B52's are good enough for our brave pilots to fly, a 30 year old plane will suit the DC elites good enough.

Trump is right again.
