scanning the helidirect website i came across these.

https://www.helidirect.com/align-ne...ar-set-23t.html

https://www.helidirect.com/align-t-...e-gear-set.html

so can these be used with the nitro and electric series?
And what are the benefits versus the standard black gears?

And just an added question off topic. Does anyone know which part number dfc main shaft is for the nitro dfc? there are a few to select from

It gets confusing Align!

It can be very frustrating finding the right part for older Align heli's..that's one of the reasons I have bought Mikado for my newer electrics; there's never any confusion..

I do a great decending funnel!

The new red gears seem to imply the tail rotor direction and the gear ratio is changed.

Weird.

I use the DFC head on my 700N V2 and it uses a DFC main mast.
Which part number, I could not tell you. I haven't needed to buy one in a while.

I bought the 700n dfc version with the green canopy version. Not sure if that helps.
So does those gear make the drive train more robust and reverse the tail rotor direction?? Also it looks to be the tooth count is different than the black gears. Not sure what align is trying to solve with this.

They have nothin to do with tail rotor direction.... These gears will lower your tail ear ratio from 4.73 to 4.43 on the 700E. You must use the new 102t auto gear with these.

So two questions to follow that.
Can you use it on a nitro version dfc?
And does it speed up the tail rotor for more tail authority?

It's a lower ratio so it will slow the tail down. No not meant for Nitro

Thank you Richie. Just doesn't make sense to make a stronger gear but slow down the rotor speed. Hmmm weird but I'll take the info provided from you all and make it useful.

They are intended for use with high head speeds at a guess above 2200.

When they say the direction is changed they just mean the gears slope in the opposite direction. They have probably done it so people don't accidentally use the new smaller 102T auto rotation drive gear with the 22T tail drive gear, which would work but would eventually fail.

cut on the teeth are opposite of previous offerings so they don't mix. 1 to 4.73 old version compared to 1 to 4.43 for the reds. Take the number of teeth from the auto gear and divide by 4.43 and you'll get the number of teeth on the idler gear on the idler/bevel gear driver. The old and new don't pair at all. I guess they might make about 10% rpm reduction on their 700/800 class helis so you can up the main rpm and slam the machines around that much quicker in future. Is it close to estimate having the same tail rotor speed as with old gears now spinning main rpm of up to 2400rpm using the red gear set?

One of Align's extra little options, that's cool on them. Why wouldn't they offer an increased ratio gear set for low head speed flyers also? Like at 1000rpm they could supply a 6.5 to 1 or something.

Begs the question, if you half speed mains max rpm do you double the tail rpm and otherwise, increase main by double and reduce tail by the same amount to get effective max tail rpm at all times?

it appears the gears are designed for low head speed helis of the 700 and 800 Align products.
The new gears give a SLOWER tail rpm not higher. Read my reply above.

So I could potentially run a higher head speed and slow down the tail rotor to prevent over speeding. And I would assume this could give a higher head speed without having to lower gyro tail gains too much because it's slowing down the tail rotor. Hmmm has me interested. Great replies!
