dilberteinstein rrNovice texas - USA | Not so fast.I suspect gun sales will take a nose dive because Americans will feel the government will be on our side instead of the hordes of illegal Mexicans and bomb building Muslims flooding over our borders.![]() 90% of life is "showing up"

![]() rrApprentice Holliston, MA - USA | Putting aside for a moment the simplistic notion that presidents "create" jobs solo, without the involvement of congress, the fed, the free market, etc....#1 - You are OK with the fact that we are now being held ransom to pay for jobs out of YOUR taxpayer dollars?#2 - I bet the other 1000 workers who are still loosing their jobs to Mexico in this deal are not so happy.#3 1100 is effectively lost in the noise in the grand scheme of things in this economy with about 145 million people working.#4 you might want to, you know, maybe watch the news once in a while? The US economy added something like 10 million new jobs during Obama's term. I may not be a math whiz, but my 5 year old tells me that 10 million is more than 1100![]() ![]() -Jeremy

![]() rrKey Veteran Indianapolis, IN USA | Not YOUR tax dollars. No Federal monies involved in the Carrier deal. (Do we have to remind everyone about Solyndra?? - that was ALL of our tax money well spent wasn't it?)It is MY tax dollars (Proud Indiana resident). And it is tax INCENTIVES, NOT tax CUTS. Big difference. Especially when part of the deal is Carrier investing in infrastructure (which my taxes pay for anyway). The local micro-economy will continue to be stable for another 10 years minimum. I'm OK with this specific deal. It's a solid win-win deal. And in the big picture, I am OK with STATES doing their own thing and making their own decisions in trying to lure business or keep business.#1 - You are OK with the fact that we are now being held ransom to pay for jobs out of YOUR taxpayer dollars?

Heli_Splatter rrElite Veteran USA | I am not sure that it is a big win... saving 50% of the jobs at Carrier is not win win win. I remain quite hopeful, yet I can see right through cheer-leading and stump propaganda. Quiet progress and good deal making is preferred by me.I want him to succeed but I am wary of his preacher style.

spaceman spiff rrKey Veteran Tucson | 50% does seem like a win to me. Even if it is a very small win. Well done Indianna. The company i work for ( manufacturing equipment) (28 years) got an award from the state for doing so much business abroad. Not many of us were happy to have recieved that award because we knew all that had happened is our normal US customers were shutting down plants here and moving elsewhere. If we didn't "expand our business reach" we would have been shrinking.Trump is a pain in the ass, but i think he is right to be going after NAFTA.I dont want another "Leader of the freetrade world" pretty tired of it. Hopefully we will soon have an actuall US President.

spaceman spiff rrKey Veteran Tucson | So obama added roughly 10 Trillion in stimulus debt.(10,000,000,000,000$)He added 10 million part time jobs. (10,000,000.)My calculator might be broken, but it said it cost 1 million dollars per part time job.If I divide the numbers Noob put up, I get $6363 per good job. 8 years of that comes to a total of 51,000$. (apologies for pretending to ignore ssmith's post just for fun.)Is 1 million much bigger than 51 thousand?

The government doesn't make one dime until it takes it from someone who already made it. Tax relief means the company gets to keep more money than expected that would have been otherwise confiscated. This allows the company to keep those jobs in America.
