Man, I am overrun with RC offers. Every day it is 10-20 emails. Then there are the catalogs and mailings.

This is a really bad side of this hobby.

Do you agree? I know where to go if I need something. I don't need a million reminders.

It's marketing and it's everywhere, not just RC.

Use the unsubscribe option usually found at the bottom of the email.

You can also setup mail rules to organize/delete mail as well.

Annoying

It IS annoying. I keep receiving them and looking at them in case I see something I don't know about or even a discount that looks good. But it is a lot of unsolicited junk.

Frequency Setting

What I need is a;

( ) once a day
( ) once a week
( ) once a month
( ) once a year

Setting for these guys... when you are getting multiple messages per day, and you don't want to completely turn it off.

Negative results

Hey there a main, horizon, and tower

It's only a couple of days left until Christmas and I have not placed a single order. Your daily spam has not changed my mind and improved your chances. I do delete every single one of them without opening.

All you have to do is unsubscribe to the email notices you signed up for in the past.
At the bottom of every email advertisement is an option to opt out.

It is the frequency that I am complaining about, not the sender or the topic. I just don't need 5 e-mail blasts a day. Read the thread. I would love to opt out for 1 reminder a week.

Do they really think that I am that old and dementia ridden that I forget from hour to hour. My protest has been to not buy anything this month. I am sure that they never even noticed it.

You are old if you think someone is intentionally just sending out these knowing they just sent one yeaterday lol! Automated email notifications. Thats why they offer an otption to receive or not to.

To receive them you must have opted in, so it's your fault and since you don't open any of them even on a weekly basis I would suggest you opt out! I subscribe to Tower hobbies and A Main hobbies and can tell with certainty that I don't feel I get bombarded and actually enjoy looking.

I opted out and just about had them wiped out. About 4 months later, I started receiving more. I guess someone sold my address.

I killed the email address and started a new one.

What a great thread. I've been considering something like this for a while.

I've actually wondered if all this mail being pushed at us isn't actually hurting vendors sales rather than helping. I wonder if all this stuff being pushed at us isn't helping shrink the hobby rather than grow it.

My thinking is this: In years past I would ponder my next project and set out to source the pieces I wanted. I would, in effect, create the next new thing in my head or on paper and then go seek vendors that could supply those parts. Now, with all the mail I get, things seem to flood my hobby world without me thinking about it. New projects never really form. Sometimes I start formulating a new build but there is another email to look at with more stuff to buy.

With this in mind, I created a folder in Microsoft Outlook labeled "spam" and then setup a mail rule to move different solicitations there. I leave town for weeks at a time and when I come home the spam folder has 100s of new emails in it. I just mark them all as read and move on. As of this writing that folder has 40,142 emails in it. If the time comes that I'm looking for a discount coupon, I still have the mail and I go look for it.

For me, this has had very positive results. I now seek what I want rather than have stuff I don't want pushed at me.

"Well, Nothing bad can happen now."

It is like being related to that manic depressive cousin that calls in the middle of the night to see how you are doing.

Now multiply that by ten or so. You cannot completely cut them off and out of your life because you are related and there is that occasional time you might need them.

I want to cut tower and all off, but when you order, you need package tracking. So it would be a cycle of stopping them after each order is received and occasionally missing a good coupon.(if they even really exist)

Do you just sit there watching TV and let every advertisement wash over your brain cells or do you switch channels? Even that is hard to do now when every blinking channel has adverts running at the same time.

Try deleting every RC spam message for a week... then you will know how it feels to be real again. Don't even open them... straight to the delete and permanently delete them as soon as they come in.
