Robert Sixt flew 291km/h (180.8mph) last June at the FAI trials in Germany with a Henseleit TDR2. Not sure if it's official yet though.

That is about 15 MPH faster than I last heard of for a record.

Previous World Record was Miles Dunkel at 282.65 km/hr (175.6mph) in 2015 with Minicopter Diabolo S.

Not sure how much faster RC helis will be able to go with the 6kg weight limit. The Henseleit TDS had problems getting under the weight limit and could not run. That is why Robert Sixt was flying the TDR2 with enclosed canopy instead. Regardless, 180mph is very fast. Hard to squeeze in bigger motors and batteries. Most likely have to look at blade design which doesn't add much weight.

The only thing that really makes sense for rotary wing craft and very high speed is counter rotating mains. That way you don't have the losses of a tail rotor and the limits of the retreating blade. Also, for high speeds you don't need that much main blade, just enough for take off & landing.

And then of course, the faster you go, the more you have to tilt the rotor disk(s) forward . . . or install a pusher prop like the Lockheed AH56 Chyenne, Piasecki X49A, Sikorsky X2 and Eurocopter X3.
