look at the whole GT15cc story and you'll quickly understand the risks associated with tiny nitro to gasoline conversions dealing with over heating
^^^ yeeaa, and that's why the NGH 9cc and 15cc and the Evolution 10cc and 15cc is so successful today, there are guys on RC Groups that have been flying those engine for 3 and 4 years,

RM3, really, you just want to be negative about it because I posted it

RM3, here is my reply in the quote below, it's from some one that has been converting Glow engines to Gas for years, CH Ignitions, I received it since my last reply above,

CH's reply is in regards to my PM question about how well an OS .90 Heli engine would run and hold up to running on Gas,
When you go from GLOW to GAS, you always loose some power about 10 % and engine runs hotter.

As far as the OS 90, the engine can take the use/abuse of gasoline, no problem.

If I will have my choice...I will stay with an OS or Saito engine...not xx and xx

gearhead... you constipated or what?

but you know what considering your vast technological hands on know how working with tiny gassers with all the development work, making your own engine internals, testing... I too say go for it bro, Im sure MA will give you your $60 back upon a successful year of a trouble free GT15 in a 600 heli... buy two, or three... Im sure you will find yourself overcome with joy.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

you should know, as you said, you read a book about it

BTW, OS now makes a Gasser 10cc that uses a Glow plug

thats old news... they still aint rated for heli use... keep in mind the prop wash helps a ton for cooling which is why they work better in planes... but for heli use, the advantage goes to Zenoah RC engines for durability and smoothness. granted the weight is a significant disadvantage.

If OS could manage to find tiny roller bearings for both ends of the connecting rod and use a different method to deal with the wrist pin retainers like brass buttons (but they add weight). But as far as I can gather the GT15 has gone through some 4 iterations or more, some report success while others report nothing but issues, melted piston tops, ring retainer pins falling out, wrist pin retainer mods galore. The freaky sight even had a dedicated thread (quest for reliability...GT15) that had everyone trying all sorts of things to keep the engine from eating itself, not to mention all the other threads with people spending over $1000 trying to make it work. they even went as far as cryogenic temperature treatments for the wristpin and special ceramic coating to the piston top... none worked.

Carey tried in vain IMO to get that little engine to last... to this day he doesnt offer a conversion for it as per his websight, probably for good reason.

Helibug doesnt offer a GT15 conversion... wonder why.

JC designs (sold by Carey) doesnt offer a GT15 either.

Helix is the only one to even offer a kit...

given its finicky nature and documented track record (good and bad) I stand by my assessment... I dont recommend it or any other nitro engine conversion to gasoline. and with that Im done with this conversation.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

why go on about the bearing !, as NGH has proven, engine of this size don't need roller type bearings, and to add, the fastest Glow Engines in the world have also proven that bushings last longer, so why even think about using roller type
But as far as I can gather the GT15 has gone through some 4 iterations or more
you mean like every other Glow Engine on the market today, OS is now on there 3 generation .50 heli engine and as for their 90 they are on their 4th or is it their 5th generation 90 ??,,
some report success while others report nothing but issues, melted piston tops, ring retainer pins falling out, wrist pin retainer mods galore
wow LOL, you can not just write it off because some manufacture has not built an engine correctly for this application, come on RM3, that's just a cheap shot, geezz !!

well, there are guys on RCU that have flown their 15cc gasser engines for 6 years and are still happy, maybe OS need to increase the size of their piston rod and lower the compression or improve their cooling,

d-did I miss something there ?? I guess you are trying to tell me it wont work because these 3 don't make conversions
I dont recommend it or any other nitro engine conversion to gasoline
I guess so

Raja,, pleas, please, do not be stupid about this, the world once said man could never fly while only Leonardo Da Vinci said it was possible man could fly

we are now talking about engines, all that is needed is for it to be built correctly, but then again the NGH has been running for 6 years

I would like to convert a 91 nitro to gas and put it in my trex 600 or even if I could blend nitro with the fuel. The NX4 seems to be doing really well on gas.

for what its worth, the G570 (both gas and glow) versions is released, I'm just having a hard time keeping them in stock

I also have a GPH version of the GT15 that includes:
  1. the JC Designs WARHead
  2. spiral piston pin clips
  3. the HZ (90 std) crankshaft
  4. modded rear backplate
all as stock. Again my challenge is keeping them in stock

If you're not flying a gasoline helicopter
You're paying 10 times too much for fuel!!
