That's great, hope he doesn't read it, lol but what's with the thumbs you'll have to break him of that one.

Well, I fitted all the clothes on a guy and tried to get him into the cockpit. His head was on the roof and the joystick was hitting him in the naughty bits. So, he had to go, the girl came back, got "de-butched" with some lipstick and her pullover stretched across her chest. I couldn't find any decent shoes for her so I ordered a pair on E-bay, which will cruise over from China and arrive some time in the distant future

Then I attacked the turbine! Vario didn't help supplying parts that didn't fit and to me the thing looks too small, but that's what I have and it will have to do. It may come off. What do you guys think?

And just in case it stays, here is the finished helicopter. I have to say, I like it and it flies great. I dont think the non scale parts are that important when you are having fun.

If you don't like Vario's engine Solidworks and the 3D printer could take care of that issue.

Engine not bad but the angle? Maybe longer supports in rear to level it out might help

You are right, it should not slope down, but thats what they gave me to use.

I will look at it again tomorrow and ensure I have it installed right, and if it is, then I will make up some longer supports from the ones that didn't fit.

printing that engine would be a long print run. Probably in 3 or more pieces and the tail pipe would be the longest running part, so about 30+ hours to print at a guess.

Ok, I moved the front supports further back to lower the front of the turbine and yes, it does look a lot better.

That's it, it's done. Now it's on to something else.

Thanks guys, now all I have to do is to get it off Marcus. He will want a damn good heli in trade for it, maybe the 407

One comment I forgot to answer

You have to remember, he is of the X-box generation. They use thumbs on the controllers all the time. I'm going to try and get him onto fingers and thumbs, but it wont be easy.

So now I have gone into something completely different and am getting the 1/4 scale EC 120 in the air. I haven't bothered with it up to now as there have been horses in my flying field so if I have a problem and it hits one I will be in big trouble. Now they are inside for the winter (there's no grass in that pasture for them to eat as its been too dry) I can fly over the other fields as far as I can see. Saturday will be the last flying day for a while as the temperature is due to drop below freezing. I think it will get as low as 66 degrees for a high, and if its colder than my age, that's below freezing

if he's happy and can fly well with thumbs leave well alone
after all its all about the young man enjoying his flying
not how he uses the tx sticks

and yes I fly thumbs it just was the natural way I used the tx
if your asking yes i'm an apprentice old git, (working my way up year by year)
