Hi everyone..

Have you seen the video's on the new DJI Mavic Pro 4K quad rotor platform? I think its pretty awesome! There are some threads here talking about the Gopro Karma but the Mavic from DJI is proven and I think will be a winner among those who already use and love DJI products!

Also, as you mentioned, DJI has a pretty good stake in FPV products.

So watched several reviews on this one. Has captured my attention. Was looking at the P4 but to me this is a better bang for the buck.

I am ready to jump on this but so far am holding (not sure why, must be the cost) First run isn't always the best choice here. I am looking to try FPV flying and think this will get me into that realm and have the control and capability to do much more. If I find this my passion I can then try racing quads. Initially I just want to fly around and be able to stop look around and go again, EASILY! So we will see. I def see this as the top one to have.

You are right Simmer! I am on the waiting list for my Mavic and I can't wait! Getting into FPV after you fall in love with the Mavic will cost you as well, getting the goggle's/monitor and all the 5.8Ghz/2.4Ghz/1.3Ghz equipment can be pricey and intimidating as well.

Anyways GOOD LUCK!

OK so lots of issues with android phones, specifically with S7 version.
Neither DJI or Samsung has committed to any fix and there is some passing of the blame going (prob in both directions) if you have an Iphone6 or 6+ you will be good to go. Iphone 7 probably good to go but I read today the Iphone 7 with 32gb of memory is slower than the 6 series. If I was to upgrade, I would go with the 128 or even 256gb memory option. (whats that $850.00 ??)crazy to HAVE to use only Iphone to be reliable and fully supported. Reboots is the visible issue and when in flight I would imagine not good.

I have the S7edge and while I have an option to buy out my 2 year contract/ or upgrade to a new Iphone, that will cost me about $450.00
I am not a fan of apple but I fear I may not have much choice. The DJI Go software is optimized for Iphone. Its clearly stated in the specs what is supported. I will now hold off until this issue is resolved and maybe, I can just walk in and buy one in a few months without having to wait.

By the way, they started shipping today. Only 6 days behind schedule which is really not too bad.

Hate to wait but feel I must at this time.

Phillips942, I am more than happy to buy FPV goggles when I get to that point.

Get an iPad mini just for the mavic and you will be fine. That's what I use for my phantom P3.

I see DJI is coming out with a nice set of goggles that are full 1080, but I haven't seen a price yet. I definitely prefer using goggles to fly.

I haven't even looked at what tx the mavic has with it. I assumed it would be like the phantom or inspire tx.

Guess you haven't watched the video I posted earlier either huh? The controller is designed to hold an iPhone or Android cellphone as part of the assembly. Very good idea I think! I have my Mavic on pre-order, can't wait until it comes in!

Mavic

It all depends on what your looking for. The mavic had some of the perks like the phantom line, but it sacrifices image quality for portability. It's basically a portable smartphone quality cam flying platform. It will shoot 4K and 1080 but reliably up to 30fps. Your not gonna shoot professional quality with this, if you want that stick with the phantom like or inspire. Not to mention if you want one the wait is well into next year at this point.
