Well my beloved "STR-G22" a stretched G20 crashed yesterday... a real shame, was flying great after fixing the tail issue. no vibs allowed me to run 1850 on the head for great flying two days in a row. Loops, rolls, inverted circuits, rainbows, tic-tocs, funnels, stall turns, backwards figure 8s... just loving it. Then yesterday 4 flights in, coming out of a stall turn, elevator would not work, instead the head would bobble down every time I applied back elevator. Hit the ground at a 45 degree entry angle nose down. Im not sure what caused it but when I got home and inspected everything, the swash ball was locked to the main shaft... lubrication must have dried out and possibly allowed rubbing to heat the two and heating caused the shaft to expand locking against the ball. there was no residue everything else electronically was good.

damage detected thus far:
main shaft, feathering shaft, blades, tail boom block, landing skids, both front frame halves, front electronic tray, canopy, bent V2 muffler, vertical support slightly bent( I think), head links, tail bevel gear.

As many of you know, Century no longer sells parts. therefore I cannot source the broken items

should I sell off the salvageable items and let this one die?

There may be a smoking deal out there on a leftover G20 kit. Might get you another good bit of time flying.

A arm pin

When I had one of those, the A-arm pin came out of its slot enough to start jamming against the frame but likely didn't come all the way out so I was able to put CA on it and push it back in. I expected to have clips to hold that thing in there but its just press fit.

the TT tail version uses C-clips to hold the A arm pivot pin in place. Like I said the only thing is the swash ball was locked to the main shaft. I had to hammer it off the section it was locked to... just weird how it flew so great for two days, then one day the swash ball cements itself to the main shaft effectively locking my collective capability.

will spend resto of free time doing a complete tear down and inspection. I suspect the engine may be damaged too... if so there is no point in saving her.

Man that just sucks Ramiro...hopefully you can find some parts. Too much time in it to let it die. Just my thoughts.

Mine fall down, went BOOM!!

RM3- If you give me your address I will send you this(below).
It has sat for too long and I would like to move to something bigger.
I ran the wally motor dry before storing so it should be OK.
It's the flybar version but you should be able to get some parts off of it. It has a 601 gyro and I don't remember what servos.
You can discard whatever you don't want.
You can have it for free.
Let me know.

Hi RM3
Yes, totally serious. I'll ship it from my office so no shipping charges.
I just didn't want to take the time to get it all cleaned up & tuned again when there won't be any parts available for repairs.
It only makes sense to get it to someone who will use the airframe for repairs.
PM me your address & I'll ship it out later this week as long as I have time to make the boxes for shipping.
Perhaps you'll pay it forward & help someone else in the future or maybe it'll just make your day a little better.
In either case, you'll hopefully be able to fly your G20 a little longer & I will have room for another gasser.

Yeah, I still cant believe it myself... I have never been given anything like this before. Hopefully I can give him something in return that Im not using.

Today I mounted the engine to my prop test stand and fired it up after checking everything on it. I was delighted to see that the engine is still running and producing very good power despite being nearly a year old now.

engine test reveals that it produces apprx 3.4hp at 12700 peak rpms... which is outstanding.

Now just waiting on parts to put her back together.

Have her at work for some disassembly today to pack for shipment.
I found an extra CDI ignition(below tailboom in pic) that I'll throw in one of the boxes as it is specific for the motor( I think).
I'm embarrassed about the rust on the flybar & fastener heads as I always kept my heli's in a spare bedroom where its not humid, but I moved last year and had the G20 in the basement.
