No, nothing like Paypal.

Some people will advise using only US Postal Service money orders, but relying on the government to do any kind of investigation in the even of fraud is likely to be a waste of time.

If someone is insisting on a money order, that could be a sign of trouble.

No feedback, doesn't seem to answer posts, I wouldn't touch it no matter how good the deal seemed.

Could be legit, i suppose, but there are too many other safer places to throw money at.

I was told by my bank that Money Orders were treated just like a personal check now due to counterfeiting. YES, I took a MO when I sold my 4 wheeler and thought I had cash in my hand. The bank put a 10 day hold on the MO to make sure it wasn't counterfeit!

It's controversial, but PayPal is about the best way especially when purchasing product using PayPal for payment.

An electronic check sent from your bank is probably the second best way to pay someone.

Just my .02 worth,
Dennis

PS: Look at the following reply I received from a member here. Woudld you complete the transaction?

Hi DennisH
Hi.
If you still want buy fuselage, I will give you new PayPal of my friend, because my paypal reached limits today ( I sold expensive helicopter) and now do not working around 30 days...
Let me know anyway
Limits on PayPay????? THE BIGGEST FLAG - NEVER use a third party to receive a payment. The third party is not liable to you in any way, FYI. If the transaction goes bad, your just lost your money you received from the 3rd party, you will have it automatically taken back.

Offer to the seller to ship first and then upon your inspection, payment will be made.....

If the person is legit they should not have an issue with that given the circumstances....

If it smells like fish, it probably is.....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

Absolutely....

I'm not saying it's a scam, but there are just too many good people and dealers out there with verifiable sales records to take a chance like this.

Some of the good folks up here will also bend you over on a money order, or maybe it was a case one man's trash is another man's treasure...

Don't do MOs. Cash or PP only.

When a seller with zero feedback and doesn't reply to pm's, asks for money orders and not to use paypal, you need to move on and forget that sale no matter how good it seems.
Your bank will tell you a money order os protected just like your checks.. To a point this is true but when it comes to a sale through the mail , it will not help you at all.
A scamer will send you a box of rocks for that matter and claim he sent you what you paid for, who is lying? No one will win here except the seller who ripped you off. Paypal will protect you and refund you your money .

This is why it's so important to establish yourself a good feedback profile. If everyone does it there's a built in trust.

No good feedback, and I'd be hard pressed to risk more than $50, either selling or buying.

Good feedback and there's virtually no risk. I've taken money orders, personal checks, people have been willing to send PP as a gift to save charges, etc.

I currently have a trade going on where we were supposed to cross mail our items. I shipped immediately, and the other guy had something come up after I sent him the confirmation number. Without feedback I would have had alarm bells going off like crazy. But, he has years of great feedback. Life happens. I'm not worried in the least.

if it ain't broke, break it.

Money Orders: No security for you if you are the sender should someone not send you your goods.
No security for you if you are the recipient because if you are sent a counterfeit money order, it may go undiscovered for quite a long time - in the end, you are responsible for the monies.

So no, don't pay for or accept money orders unless you are face to face or know the person well (and know where they live!).

What are you people talking about. I have lost more money with PayPal than with money orders. 425$ lost to me with PayPal and 0$ lost with money orders. I will say all that money was lost 10 years ago or longer and PayPal has greatly enchanced security since then so I feel safer now.

On the other hand if somebody steals your money order then you can take legal and or criminal action. If you get a bad item then you can file a claim with the dispute tribunal.

And finally postal money orders have the same security markers as currency. Watermark, copy strips and fibers and more. Some banks are adding some of these features to their money orders too. You just have to know what to look for.

Money orders are fine when dealing with honest people. But when you get a scam artist, Paypal gives you more protection.

As another poster said a USPS money order is the only way to go. I had a situation were the seller accepted the USPS money order but did not send me the merchandize. The post office got involved and resolved the issue.
