Who watched the Drone Racing last night on ESPN 2? I was completely bored and thought it was really cheesy. Thoughts?

I recorded it, haven't watched it yet. Thought it might be interesting when I came across it.

Why is it someone so bad at being in charge......... wants to be in charge so bad?

going pro , one crash at a time

improvemets

People will have no clue as to the concentration or skill it take to do that. So, what it needs is flames shooting out the back and explosives on board for the crashes.

there has to be entertainment. risk of crashing into a flaming wreck would help.

make the drones more visible. make em bigger and add lights

spending time, paying attention

Yeah, it seemed like it was more about the pilots lives and personalities than the actual drones. The 3D flying is in my opinion pretty lame as they are so limited what they can do compared to our helicopters. They need to stick to racing.

Until you actually try doing FPV you will not appreciate it. It is very difficult and for me nothing like flying a helicopter...Once the video gets better, which it will, the racing will be better. If you just want to try it with low cost of investment you can build a Tiny Whoop from th3e Blade Inductrix or wait and buy the FPV version once it is released...So much fun!!!

I will say this tho,, I think it was dubi , there was a fpv night race this past year (you can youtube it),, sooo ligit , winner got I think one million bucks!

so I guess here in the usa , we fell short of getting people hooked ,

I don't know tho , I just cant see big crowds coming to see a fpv race , its just not there ,,

I mean if you enjoy watching water boil , than this drone racing is right up your alley ,

the "wow" factor isn't there imo,,

this is like wwf wrestlings try on the womans football stuff, epic fail.

going pro , one crash at a time

The Dubai event was pretty cool, from all of the videos and information I read about it. I think the million dollars was spread out between 3 people. A lot of money no matter how you look at it. At IRCHA this year there was quite a few people over at the FPV site and racing was good. To enjoy this you really need to have goggles or glasses with a receiver. That way the racing is pretty cool.

Note:

Like FPV, it will not be long before the virtual reality glasses really take off as there is already programming starting to show up for their use...

lovely... a large group of people, sitting on bleachers...all wearing FPV head gear... all leaning one way then another.

just weird.

like watching two kids on a date... sitting across from one another, yet eyes stuck on their own smartphone screen.

unless you got the chance for serious injury, its will not be a good spectator sport.

football = injuries, egos, money.... nascar = beer, loud engines, wrecks, possibiliy of death, Isle of Man superbike races = fear of horrible death from high speeds, boxing, MMA = violent acts against another, blood sweat etc.

gotta have either high stakes money, boobs, blood, speed or violence for a good spectator sport.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...
