That is what I am seeing, the Vcontrol really is a game changer. I a, more than pleased. Especially for FAI style flying, I really like how the banks switching is used. Now I can really tweak gyro gains and flight specific to a flight mode. For example, I should be able to run a slightly higher gain on the tail at lower head speed in hover mode. I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can actually get out of the model.

You are going to be beyond thrilled...I tune mine while flying! I assign a gain to one of the rotary knobs and you can adjust i.e. gains...agility..so awesome

Minor update... I think I have the ESC sorted but I'll know for sure when the Neo arrives and I get it installed. For now, I took a little time to dress up my Vcontrol ;-)

Update

I know I haven't posted much in the last few days. Been busy with work and family time and also have had a handful of issues to sort through.

While messing with the Vbar governor, I noticed and erratic swash movement. I found one of the balls on the lower swash had backed out. This was really odd to me as I knew I had locktited them all when I built it up to begin with. When I used myvallen driver to tighten it back up, it just continued to turn and I knew it was stripped. Being 100% positive I had not over torqued the ball, I emailed SAB Goblin customer service. To shorten this story, I got a new swash free of charge ;-)

The circled ball is the one that stripe on the old swash plate.

I would like to say that I am more than pleased with SAB Goblin and HeliDirect customer service.

Moving on...

I replaced the full size Vbar Blueline with a Neo V-link. After speaking with Kyle Stacey at IRCHA, I decided this would be the way to go. The Neo has updated sensors and once tuned in flies amazing. Since I'm building this machine for competition flight, I want the best of what I can get my hands on. So far I am not disappointed. The Vcontrol makes the whole thing infinatley easier and opens a whole new realm of possibilities in terms of flight tuning.

While I was waiting in the new swash, I did some more research and decided to go with the 19t pinion (P/N H0015-19-S) as I plan to run 1750 as my max head speed.

I've also decided to switch to RCPROPLUS Supra X 6mm connectors. I also added a little sticky foam to the capacitors on the ESC as this is where the make contact with the ESC mount.

Everything is reinstalled. Just need to get the Gov set and final main rotor rig then there will be nothing left to do but put it in the air.

I was able to get the governor sorted this evening. I also finished my final rig check and preliminary pitch curves. All that's left is hang the main blades and get CG set... Weather permitting, maiden should happen in the next day or two :-)

I still need to fine tune the battery placement, but moving the battery tray to the position in the pics vs the manual recommended location. I opted to move the battery tray to the upper position as well. I feel like it should make the aerials fly a little better since the battery is closet to the centerline of the airframe.

Here she is in full 3 bladed glory :-)

Something I have noticed on mine is that the rear edge of the fuselage, where it wraps around the boom, is getting a bit ragged. This is hangar rash, so I am thinking of using some of the black edging there or something similar. Also, on the boom, in the middle where the top edges of the front fus meet the raised lip there is wear of the gelcoat.
It may just be mine, but if it helps...?

I used sticky backed foam on the inside of mine to keep it from rubbing. I'll post a pic tonight when I get home from work.

We should have a hints and tips thread for this model, as more of them are about. Am looking forward to the stick backed foam solution, anything that helps prolong the life of the fuz has to be good

Here is the inside of the canopy at the rear where it rides in the tail boom. Very sick and seems to work well so far. Hirobo used to sell the same sort of foam and they would line entire canopies with it on pod and boom machines. They said if was for vibration dampening of the canopy.

Heading to a local park for the maiden!!

Thank you brother :-)

This machine is super, super smooth. It lifted into a hover nicely. There was almost no wind at all so I got a good feel for trim. I need to make a few adjustments and experiment with a couple things to try and get it to "sit". Right now I'm using 1300 head speed and it seems to be more than adequate. The tail has plenty of authority in this mode of flight as well but I do need to bring the pyro rate down a little.

Now let's bump the head speed to 1750... Hang on to your hats kids! This things moves out like it means to! The heli tucks in about 20 degrees nose down and just grooves so well, no ballooning or proposing. The rotor system is actually pretty quiet in FFF too. It's pretty wild to hear the fuse cleave the air like an F3A pattern plane. I need to increase the flip and roll rate a little but overall I like the feel of it so far.

I'm going to drop the head speed down to 1700 and see how that goes. I do also need to tweak the CG too.

Initial impressions are very good. I look forward to some tuning and tweaking and seeing what I can really get out of her :-)
