More P-40 info,,

I saw on Tv today about a P-40 that was shot down back in the day at Pearl Harbor, the plane had over 500 bullet holes in it and it still few on,, they said that it's hydraulics were lost and the Canopy flew off, and the pilot lost control , yet when the plane was coming down threw the clouds the pilot regained control and landed the plane,, wow

edited
I also saw in a You Tube vid that the Warhawk was produced until 1945, even tho there was better flying planes, and even tho there was faster planes, and not because the Armed Forces were ordering it, because the Armed Forces were not ordering it,, it was simple because> "it was a better plane" than it was credited for being <<<< note that I may have posted that video, not sure

p40

cool thread !
adding details and seeing the model come to life is a lot of fun ,especially with WWII warbirds .

are you going to add the zinc chromate paint to the wheel well's , inside of gear doors , etc ?

R/C is like the mob ..once your in , your NOT gettin out !

Final assembly has begun. Won't show any pics of the entire plane as a color photo until it is presented to General Chennault's grand daughter at the museum. She runs the museum. Probably will be delivered by mid February. Have to finish assembly and build a harness for it to hang from.

I can't wait to see a foam model made in China stuffed with China electronics of an iconic American Flying Tiger fighter aircraft hanging in an American museum.

Thanks, but no thanks.

There's always one...Lol, they're all made in china. Nothing inside. Static build. This particular plane fought in china with the Flying Tigers. They defended china against the japs so it kinda fits.

Actually there aren't. There are still some of us that build. Not to take away from what your doing but there's a HUGE difference between putting some paint on foam and building a scale model.

I don't believe anyone brought that up.

Of the available big P-40's, this has the most detail molded in. That was what I was looking for. Unless you scratch build it, which I have no time or desire to, it's coming from china like everything else but thanks for pointing all that out.

Feel free to post pics of yours. I like seeing pics of different models.

No need to defend yourself. The China thing just isn't a accurate statement. Nothing more. Yes I still build but not like I did in my younger days. Here's my 1/4 scale N-28.

Sure I fly foam stuff but prefer Balsa and ply.

Jesus. Drama queens on an airplane thread, lol. I've seen it all. I'm guessing they're done.

I meant P-40 models....

Foam is much easier to repair which is what is appealing to me. Simple is good. Been at this rc thing for 20 years.

But, yes, you're correct, the vast majority of this hobby comes from china. Vast.
