has anyone retro fitted another make of fbl head onto a sdx50?
if so what head did you use
what mainshaft
did you use the std sdx swash?

as my sdx had a dirt nap today when the gyro failed flipping it over to inverted and its broke the head quite badly
grips/head block/mixing arms etc

The stock head makes a great FBL conversion. Cheap, simple, very effective.

Theoretically you can put any head on it... it has a 10mm main shaft right?

So any head with a 10mm main shaft could be used. align,ma,guai, synergy, ect... could be made to work with little mod. But the heli gods will spite you.

Best, cheapest thing is to convert the stock head.

Or just man up and buy the SL head 0412-342

if I purchased a sl head it would go on my d3

I know parts are available over seas
but for an every day flying machine I wish to have parts on my door step

and yes the name will be removed if I do fit an align head onto it
I will fly with a paper bag over my head
and change my name due to the shame

The only thing you need with what you already have is a Mikado swash puller or a Hirobo scale swash puller for 10mm shafts, two pushrods and two balls.

Don't over think this, it's really simple.

I also need a head block, yoke and blade grips
as they broke in the crash
but I do know that I can get a new fz5 head at a very reduced price

Relatively speaking, the stock hirobo SDX head parts are fairly cheap. Plus the plastic blade grips are a nice bonus. With such a drastic reduction in parts count after the FBL conversion, future crashes are much more affordable. The plastic bits fly so well that spending more for a full metal FBL hirobo head seemed unnecessary.

Your truly only need a 10mm swash follower, four ball links, and two heavy pushrods of the proper length.

I used a piece of heat shrink to cover up the head yoke where the flybar carrier use to be installed. This made a nice clean installation.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

I agree with you on the hirobo plastic head
I do have a new fz4 head that I purchased as a spare for my d3
if I wished I could bolt this head on, it will work as I have one on my sceadu ex, but it will stay as a spare for the d3
I have a fbl sceadu using the std hirobo parts which flies well
