This will be my third year attending NATS/IRCHA.
Plans are pretty well made and reservations completed.
Splitting costs with friends really helps.

Well, this is really my vacation for the year, so the expense is planned for. And I have camped every year, seems to me you would miss too much being off site. Plus there is something special about waking up to the sound of helis, and often going to sleep to it. Heck, I bought a golf cart after the first year I went, but that sees a lot of use during the rest of the year too. I wouldn't even leave the site for the week if it wasn't for needing ice and cash on Friday. So I will definitely be there, with a new camping setup and my old grill and a big grin, and a fridge full of beer, lol.

You decide

IRCHA is great because I say say it is.
IRCHA will suck because you say so.

I will be there because I want to and I will make the necessary compromises. I have had a blast every year.

I'll get ready for the flames, but when you start a topic with a negative Classic, it seems like you are raining on every one who enjoys IRCHAs parade. For me, my friends I have gone with & met there, being there, and experiencing the gathering of so many that are there for RC helicopters and all their variations is what makes it worthwhile. And I have been there in the rain too... Voluenteering is just a way to give back to the community. If you throw out unsubstantiated negative comments about the raffle you try to diminish what so many work so hard at with no factual basis at all, just insulting to everyone who does the actual hard work of organizing and running an event of this magnitude. If you think you can do better, step up, organize and run an event but don't besmirch the efforts of good people. I don't go because it is a record year or to set a record. Every hobby and activity has its own cycles of growth and popularity. I go because to me it is a tremendous event with fliers and companies from around the world participating in a unique event at our National Flying Site. I have stayed in town & at the campgrounds, I have seen world class fliers do things with machines that defy imagination, and I have seen a flier so excited he could barely contain himself because he just flew and landed for the 1st time without training gear! I have had vendors spend a great deal of time helping me work through various technical problems that I couldn't have gotten access to anywhere else I've ever been. I appreciate the vendors that bring supplies so I - and so many others- can fix what we break and keep flying. I appreciate the police on site that tried to find the crook that stole a kit I brought to sell. Just don't bad vibe something you don't like, just don't go.

And to Dark Bird, get in touch with me, I'll be glad to bring you some ice out, this year I'm staying in town. Andy

Inverted IS more fun!

sorry if I'm raining on your parade flyingfootdoc
but frankly everyone is entitled to their opinion, and pretty sure I have been going to ircha events a lot longer then you have.

Too me, the event has diminished from what it was years ago, BUT that doesn't mean I wont ever go ago. You are right about the experiences of seeing old friends and making new ones, dealing with vendors, those have been some good times for sure!

But, This is an old post from last year, so its time to close.

And to all of you who are defiantly going, I hope you have a great time, please share posts and pics!

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!
