^^ Way cool! I did the same with my 450 SA in an Agusta 109A fuselage. Flew the daylight out of it until the pitch servo failed at a high altitude. The resulting crash totally destroyed that poor little heli. I had well over 1,000 flights, replaced the tail belt 3 times, head dampers the same, main shaft bearings once as well as the gears once. My wife joked that I should have given it a proper burial, as I had it so long that it was part of the family.

Ah, trees. If my memory is correct, in 1974 I was flying a Schluter HeliBaby. I had a huge yard with one pathetic tree in the middle of it. I hit that tree at least every other flight. The only positive outcome was that I got very good at making blades and straightening my mainshaft.

Yup, the Heli-Baby was fixed pitch, my Heli-Boy was collective pitch. Both were flown with Kraft 4 channel single stick radio systems and no gyro on either of them. Those were the days when hovering was an achievement and forward flight (for some) was a fantasy.

You guys might appreciate this--->my friend John's Kalt Baron, takes it out once or twice a year weather it needs it or not. You can hear the wire driving the tail rotor winding and unwinding, has since replaced it with a torque tube--everything else is pretty much stock.

Trex 450

Does any body still fly your trex 450 with belt driven tail
If so, what belt do you use? Where do you get it?

Thanks

See if you can cross-reference this belt (to find a supplier in the US) ;
http://shop.ep-models.com/index.php...roducts_id=2799

I'm pretty sure they are still available and were always the best choice for the early-models (HDE, HDE-XL) up to the V2's.

I have run one on my Modified 450 V1.5 (back in the day)

I miss old school helis! You had to tweek them, upgrade them, change paddles, different motors, pinions etc. to get the most out of them and I used to love all that, now you build them up and that's it, nothing to do, and they fly 10 times better than they did then! New helis have no personality or soul anymore, they are boring, even boring to fly!

60% of the time, it works every time!

I wouldn't say "boring" as I don't really miss doing rebuilds on micros and minis soo-much.
I do miss doing all the upgrades you could get and the tuning part somewhat, but fbl systems give me much more confidence in-flight.

Your 450s look really nice. Is the yellow landing gear a gorilla? Nobody sale that any more. I have to use pro landing gear on mine

Thanks for the kind words and YES that Rex 450 came with the Gorilla-gear already installed (as well as the Super-belt).

At that time I was running the Neu 1107H / 1.5Y motor with a KonTroniks Jazz 40-6-18 esc (and a Hard-One 14T. pinion) on 3S Packs.

I will have to see if I can find you anything on anyone that may still have the Gorilla-gear available

RC Flight Store (Canada)
has a listing showing the MSH Heli Gorilla-gear for T-Rex 450 as well ;
http://rcflightstore.com/index.php?cPath=188_22_34_48

I was running the low-version ;
http://rcflightstore.com/product_in...roducts_id=1774

I'm not positive that the hole-locations would be "exact" for both the MSH 450 and the Align T-Rex 450 but this was the only cross-reference that I could find (using Google search-engine).

Hope that Helps !!

Trex 450 - The chevy 350 or vw bug of helicopters.

I wish I saved my SE it lives on with a flying buddy and flies to this day. I have and fly my Pro v1 which has slowly changed to a Pro V3 dfc.

Whether intentional, cost cutting or both, I love that Align allows you to keep flying via parts availablity or upgrades.

I don't miss the infamous separating swash or motors though

I went with the Neu 1107H / 1.5Y but I think that the Scorp. may have been the motor to run
