IRCHA would like to announce that we will continue the One Competition at the 2016 IRCHA Jamboree.

We have decided that it would be best to return the event to what it should be, and that is about pure pilot skills and not theatrics. For 2016 it will be all about the title, glory, and bragging rights.

There will be a new format to the event. No more required maneuvers, no changing of helicopters mid flight, no judges. We will have one flight, one machine, and the IRCHA text to voting system (that we have used the last two years during the night flight) will be used. The crowd will be the judge and tell everyone who they think is truly the One.

If you ask, will there be cash, the answer is no. The One is about the love of flying, competing, and the desire to know that on that day, you flew the best, and everyone at the Jamboree voted for you.

IRCHA will be sending out invitations to pilots, but we will be accepting applications for some wild card slots. If you think you are good enough, let us know and you might get the chance to fly at center stage.

Charles,

In the other forum you mentioned we could nominate pilots and that you would consider them.

I would like to nominate two pilots I know:

Ryan Sams and Dave Kettlehut.

Thanks!

How can you say your making it about pilot skills yet having no more required maneuvers?

are you saying is more about the quality of the skills one has or the quantity of skills?...
I thought the "One" was about the single pilot that can demonstrate the highest number of quality skills...not just what they know how to do best.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I agree I think a known manuver would be good. Just fly it and then use another Heli for his comp flight. That would be good

Yes, you may submit names for potential pilots. Once a good sample size of names is submitted we will run a poll to narrow down the pilot list.

We have decided to run an open format event which should be attractive to both the pilots and the crowd. The One is about fun, for the pilot and the crowd. The pilot gets to put on a show for the crowd, and they get to choose the "People's Champion"

If there are 3D pilots that want to fly a more structured style event with required maneuvers with formal judging criteria, then I fully suggest they enter the NATS F3N. This year will be the first year the US is selecting an F3N team to represent the USA in 2017. Interested pilots can enter the NATS F3N and still fly at the Jamboree.
