Has anyone else noticed that a 700 MM blade is the same length as the sharpened part of a Japanese katana blade?
Wonder if this is a coincidence.

Based on when they were made, mostly.
The length of the katana blade varied considerably during the course of its history. In the late 14th and early 15th centuries, katana blades tended to have lengths between 70 and 73 cm (27½ and 28½ in). During the early 16th century, the average length approached closer to 60 cm (23½ in). By the late 16th century, the average length returned to approximately 73 cm (28½ in).

Mine is the early/late style.

Don!

It is an amazing bird. I'm gonna continue stocking up on them. I will have one 'til I can't or I die, whichever comes first.

You are safe Don! I've practiced katana for a long time now. I will do my best not to cut myself either....lol

One vote here for coincidence.

In the list of clueless questions from clueless observers, I have never seen the one we received at our field one day. The question we were asked - "How often do you have to sharpen those blades?"

I should think one would treat the two with exactly the same respect.

AMA prohibits use of metal blades on rc Heli
If used for scale flying, metal blades are allowed (if rotor diameter is larger than 1800mm). Metal blades on an aerobatic helicopter are not permitted.
