For what I have read, you dont want to use the clutch.
can you shed some light on that? why wouldn't you?
all of my electrics are clutched which means I am running the stock gearing used for the nitro setup. the clutch offers lots of advantages, the biggest being the scale sounding (and looking) spool-up when used with the soft start feature of the esc. It also takes it easy on the drive train when doing so. theres a level of safety if you happen to start spooling thing up at a most inconvenient time.
I am the least scientific guy anyone will know and I do almost everything old school.

You can set it up either way. I converted an Hirobo SDX but I eliminated the clutch so that the batteries could fit beneath the motor.
