so if the faa wants you to register as pilots of model aircraft, who is doing the certifications?

and much will it cost to get certified ?

that being the worst case scenario

OMG

Yes there will be a written test consisting of 100 questions randomly selected from a 700 question test bank. You will have to present evidence of passing the written test and a $250 examiner fee for the practical test.

For the record. POE's law I AM KIDDING ABOUT THAT.

I hate to say it but not everybody is capable of building and maintaining a model helicopter to be considered safe.

luckily poorly built and maintained models are short lived and there have been accidents.

maybe some models should be certified like the 700 and larger sizes.

Please do not advocate for that. Do you have any idea what it would cost to have an "A&P" inspect your model? What about maintenance? Could I change my own thrust bearings?

Please tell me you are POEs lawing right now because I'm not sure and LOLing.

And what about natural law!?!

was just looking down the road a few years.
It will start small,
Kinda like income tax, it was only temporary and affected only less than 10% of the population of the US.
.
.
In 1894, Democrats in Congress passed the Wilson-Gorman tariff, which imposed the first peacetime income tax. The rate was 2% on income over $4000, which meant fewer than 10% of households would pay any. The purpose of the income tax was to make up for revenue that would be lost by tariff reductions.[53]
Dammm, it's the democrats again.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Gyrofreak good post

with government it starts small and grows and grows and grows......
and with indoctrination each new generation thinks it's normal.

if the faa thinks it's going to control the use of over a million rc models flying at any given time, I'd say good luck to that and to that end. They are hoping that through fear mongering the sheep will line up and comply because they are afraid of punishment. Then the rest will fall through peer pressure and fear.

FAA Lets play ball

Ok. First off this is kinda of tongue and cheek don't take me serious.

But, if the FAA wants to start telling us that are heli's need to be registered. With N numbers. Just call the NTSB to come investigate when you auger in your bird.

Maybe, get a hand held radio from Sporty's and call the local ATC at your closet airport. Addison Tower this is Goblin N555BS ready for departure at my flying field. (Tower) will be a bit confused not seeing Goblin lined up at active. Also, ask tower for flight following, tell them they will enjoy watching you do loops. Just maybe if we bugged the hell out of the FAA they would finally see how silly this is and go away.

In all seriousness, The FAA has put it's head under the tent, and it will never go away. Just wait, register today, tomorrow you too will have books piled up studying for the Knowledge test that is coming to you, and will be required for 10-15 hours of dual instruction and then another 30 or so hours so you can take your check ride. Then you will receive your FAR AIM book for 2017 that is 3 inches thick of regulations that a bunch of lawyers drafted up.

I think the FAA gets it's ideas from this forum, then implements them to screw with us.
