Just coming back again. Please advise on what servos to use.

I know many, many opinions exist but hey that why we come to a forum to talk about them right....lol

Perhaps you could tell me your experiences and list as example:

Best 3D---
Best precision---
Best bang for buck----
Best economy---

Can even break down by heli size.

Love to hear what's what.

I just bought a Trex 450 Dominator and thinking about a Trex 700e and have a bunch of 600 size those all have servos at this point though.

Thanks

The Align servos are pretty good value but you can't beat Futaba for reliability and quality.

Servos actually make little difference these days with FBL, as long as they have enough torque and speed your good to go.

Servos

I see some new servos and they look the same with different names:

BK
MKS
KST
RJX

They have impressive specs;

Are they all made by the same people with different names on the side?

Are they reliable?

I've only heard good things about MKS servos. Some are made in the same factory or at least the cases are which is why you can have different servos that look the same but with different quality insides. I say stick with whos been around the longest and is proven and that for me is Futaba, some will argue it's JR, both are at the top for quality.

The list of servos given that look the same are made by a company that will pretty much do anything you want as a vendor. You choose your quality level of subcomponents and so forth to suit your desired net cost. Thus you can't always assume that just because the cases look the same that the innards are identical. Maybe so, maybe not.

Futaba and JR design their own servos and make them in their own plants. They don't use third party providers.

I really like my Futaba brushless servos. In addition to being very precise and reliable they are also very energy efficient.

If you can afford them, stick with Futaba or JR. Same for transmitters ! But I have a friend that uses only HK servos and Orange RX's. Flies much more that I do.

It's a Pareto Analysis thing. If crashing due to servo failure is insignificant, then cheap is fine. If you seldom if ever crash then JR or Futaba. It would be interesting to see a list of equipment used at the FAI Worlds but they don't do that.

And yeah, BRUSHLESS is more reliable. But if you destroy servos before they reach the wear out phase, then what the hell.

I have been flying for BK Servos for almost a year now and the servos haven't let me down. They have performed flawlessly and have survived several crashes without even damaging gears. The support from Bert and his company is exceptional.

Align bl815 and bl855

Has there been a solution for the servos failing.

Thinking about a Dominator combo kit but that's a lot of money for bad servos.

Think about how many Align combo kits are sold plus the number of Align servos sold against how many Align servo failures you have heard of.

Servos

I have my new Trex700L Dominator kit now.

Still not sure what I want to do about the servo situation though.

I definitely don't want to blow away the biggest most expensive heli I've every had due to faulty equipment.

I am looking at the new Xpert servos also. Anyone know anything about them as far as reliability and quality? Their specs are pretty good.

Stick with servo manufacturers who have been around the longest. Futaba, JR, Hitec. MKS and savox would be my 4th and 5th choice if im thinking about reliability.

If im looking for TOTAL piece of mind ill choose brushless Futaba's. Checkout BLS451's for the best bang for your buck. (forget about specs).

I flew JR servos for many years and did have a number of failures, but nothing that would say there were major issues, just a lot of use. Their service is first rate. I now am running MKS HV brushless servos on all my helicopters and am very happy with them and have not had any problems with them so far.

My personal experience with Futaba over the last 14 years is they are incredibly reliable. I'm running mostly BLS252's and BLS451's at the moment, but even before the brushless servos came out, good old 9252's and 9452's seemed to just work forever. Even after a crash and gear replacement, they would keep right on going.

servos

Thanks for all the input / feedback guys. I love these forums!

I have a 700L Dominator combo kit now and another on the way (went a little crazy but having fun...lol)
So I will have the bl815hv/bl855hv sets x2. My dilemma is the servos I've read quite a bit about problems with them and don't want to blow away my most expensive heli's I've ever bought because of faulty equipment.
So this leaves me in a quandary whether to use them (Align servos) or invest in another option. So I am exploring all my options.

I agree Futaba and JR are old standby's and are pretty reliable. I figured I'd look into other options as well. Such as I've heard good things about the new Expert R1/R1T. Also many people seem to like the MKS's and I've heard mixed reviews on the BK's many like them but few are so/so.

I already own the Aligns 815/855 but would be heart broken to crash a heli cause of a known problem or hurt someone or myself for that matter. I'd need some reassurance that they are going to be ok I guess.
