I have always had an issue of needing to have a laptop available to set-up a helicopter,FBL and electric for me.

Much prefer to stay with nitro and flybars. I admit missing the plastic fantastic. Wish some of them would come back. I miss my old Kalts. Thankfully Hirobo has not left us.

Jimm,

Still plenty of Kalts out there and a decent following. Spares are easy to find on ebay too.

I've still got 2 Baron 20's, one being my first Heli that I ever bought back in 1983. It's still in flying condition. Great machines to fly.

Baron's wow that goes back. I really learned to fly on a Baron 30. That's back when it came out. I had a Cricket before that and it was more about getting off the ground than flying.
I still think flybar flying is just as much fun as any FBL setup.
I just picked up two classic flybared heli's so I'm having a good time.

Yep, I still have my original Kalt Baron 20 bought back in 1983, it has had new servos since this pic was taken but is otherwise still original from when I bought it. The sharp eyed people might notice the Hirobo Muffler fitted. I bought that because it was tidier compared to the stock Muffler and it works well

The 2nd Kalt Baron 20 was built from spares that I had for my first one (I still have enough for both) The only difference is that I modified the original head to Flybarless. It is still an original Kalt Baron 20 head but I cut off the flybar pivot tower and used the shaft / swash from a Kalt Baron 20 MX to make it work.

And as for classic flybarred Helis, I restored this one last year, it is the machine that was copied to produce the Cricket hence the similarities.

I had to make a new flybar for this one though and reduced it back to it's original design length. The one on it when I bought it was 22 inches and that was without the extra length when the flybar paddles were screwed on...way too long. Good for stable flying but too easy for boom strikes.

Looks and flies much better now.

That's cool going back to real basic flying.
