That would be FREAKING fantastic. E

i finally got her back in the flight testing phase today. i need to increase the pitch to 5* at mid from four. i still have nervous thumbs so i really don't know what is heli, and what is me. well i got a month to get her hovering comfortably before i go before "THE JEDI COUNCIL" in Dalton.

No worries Ronald

My next event is the Southern Scale Helicopter Challenge in Dalton . I forget the official name of it but I am sure someone will chime it and help us out.

The next month is all about dialing in the best mix of head speed tail speed and gains. I wanted to have the inside primed and painted but I will put that off for this winter I need to get as many test flights possible while the weather is good.

After a few weeks of drama with my Girl. I desided th take a few steps back to make a leap forward.

I built a test rig for my mechanics. Found a few things I didn't like with my set and am making the adjustments. The Bavarian demon does not like the geometry of the Align 120* servo placement to Vario swash to cnc head. (I had a vario head on her and that did not go well "again" so I'm going back to what worked.)

The ball links are now 17mm in to center from 19.5mm. The swash is now dead center on the anti rotation bracket. And the head has all 5 arms locked in at 5.5*

I have some time this morning to finish up the setup so we will see if everyone will play nice with each other.

update..... i back to using the back up head and blades. i had a tail boom strike on a hard landing. totally trashed the head and blades. i decided to build a test bed for the model and it is going well. she is all back together and after i sort out the esc issues we will be back up in the air.

the body is all fixed thanks to some help from some great heli friends. i also started working on the canopy. having the heli split up is really helping me move forward on getting things done.

okay it is amazing how my mentor can just know what i need to do or what i have over looked and he's not even here to see my setup in front of him. Thanks B!!!
My ESC issues are all fixed and now its on to checking blade tracking.

i'm feeling good about having all the basic mechanics worked out by end of this flying season.

Hi Evan:

I know you are not going to be in this configuration too long but if you can do so, put a tail blade on it so that extremely expensive fenestron does not hit the ground if you inadvertently give some back collective at the moment you go to set it down. Other than that, the flight looked stable and you have a very nicely tracked blade set. Keep it up.

Thanks Don

I installed a fin on the boom for that but as you said, this was a temporary platform to get a basic prove mechanical profile. I had had far too many mishaps over the past couple years. And needed to take a few steps back in order to make that large leap forward. Now that I know mY configuration can fly. I is going in the fuse with much more confidence. And It was just plain fun seeing it take shape!!!

Thanks on the blades. I really had to work at simplifying a very complex verity of systems.
