IFHELI, which FBL unit are you using? Just curious as I'm going to do a Vortex in the G380 just because I got a deal on it a while back and thought I might try it.

At the moment it is a copy of mini Vbar. I hope to install a Spirit in both this spring. If I decide to scrap two of my Chase380 I may take those two Spirit and drop in the Devil & G380 this winter.

That should work fine. I hear some of those clones work very well.

I like the FU-Bar & the original GV8000 out of all of them. The Spirit is a nice FBL unit.

I flew my Devil today. It is very smooth and quiet. I had an issue on the second battery. The pinion on motor unscrewed and forced itself off the motor shaft and I did a bad auto. I broke my lynx landing gear, plastic KST servo arm, and chipped the paint on canopy. I came home replace the servo arm, replaced the landing gear, and used some high strength thread lock on pinion. I went back out and made two more flights on it. It was just as smooth and quiet as it was before crash. I came home happy with it.

If you buy it then check out the pinion and tail shaft gear. I believe both are threaded together.

Here`s two videos of the Devil in the air. The Devil is stock except for blades. I have Halos on it. Sorry for the bad quality video and my flying sucks. Also doesn`t help being cold.

Watch at YouTube

The second video is with a 2600mah 45C pack.

as one may know I put my foot down about cloning over in the hf thread early in the topics lifespan, it's not inspiring to the inventor designer to think everything they bring to society may be pirated/cloned/bootlegged/black market sold. Ironic that a blessing to one person with new ideas can be ripped off by another and legitimized by volume sales. Adjustments of design weaknesses and small flaws in an original design can be corrected by the clone artist who thinks nothing of the damage they do to the originators product line, all the while undercutting the original product with a discounted offering.

ain't it a beeyatch?

so you like the clone, admit there are improvements over the original, admit you would buy the clone to take advantage of price and improvements, you support the business of cloning, ok, go. (lol).

Is there a problem? For anyone coming up with new advances the clone business is like a piranha, shark, predator, blood sucker, mosquito, AND YOU LIKE IT.

Sure low price is good, we could find fault with ANYTHING if we wanted to, I would choose the clone over a sab, I don't support what some Italian companies do which would be no different than alzrc in what they refer to as "UPGRADES".

Listen, I've been stung by a guy who agreed to buy an item off me and my very own childhood best friend pulls out the same item out of his stock and sells it to the guy, constructively UNDERMINING THE PRINCIPLES OF DECENCY and good will while both participate in that scenario.

The earth is a prison for belligerent, haughty, murderous, lying, cheating, all bad stuff kind of people. While some people have escaped the dark ages it seems many from countries who were stuck in the dark ages have not adapted to the western world so readily.

What does that have to do with the Goby 380 clone? a little as it bodes unwell for an aspiring product designer/inventor/creator who like Brittan a few hundred years back was without PROTECTION from IP THEFT. They discovered stagnation resulted from guys unwilling to share new advancements, improvements, and inventions, they lived in fear they would not capitalize from their discovery so the PATENT system was put in place and enforced. This is why we have all the advantages we have today ENFORCEMENT.

If you are going to support cloning don't expect the behavior to stop at the goby 380, this is the future you should consider. I know MORALS, think of it this way MORE-ALLS of you or MORE-ALLS of them? what side of the fence are you gravitating toward? I know many could care not one iota either way.

Call them BROTHER? Cain or ABLE, (Cain for dog or Able for ABLE BODY and MIND) some worship the DRAGON (dragon for dreggs meaning shyt)

It's not all bad, only not INSPIRING (to be the loser without protection, they will keep their secrets from now on) Go invent your own things and see how far it will get you. Didn't Japan despise China for that very sort of thing in the past?

We must be careful.

The improvements to the original are warranted to some degree but when there is so much to try with new ideas making a clone is just about money and no big business seems to be immune, not a one. Problem is everything can be infected with problems, everything. KARMA is a bytch they say, the clone is only a thing, a small thing, it just bodes poorly for the future of the rc heli business if cloning and upgrading continues, WHO ASKED YOU? they will say.

I know and have confidence a force is coming that no one will be spared should they fall out of line with a perfect law, the one of STRUCTURE and brotherhood, without it as in examples where structure was established by one select advanced humanity that soon after they departed the old problems seeped back in and the civilisation faltered heavily. Take Egypt after the Jews departed, South Africa, the middle east right now.

Not to moralize, facts are facts, some people's god is MONEY and stop to no end to get it even if it hurts other people, but you know that already. Take the good people away and what do you have?

Something to consider.

I visited a Goblin 380 retailer when they first hit the market and held one like a small child, enthralled by the size and beauty MADE IN ITALY? (or was that alzrc? dunno, I'd like the sab goby if it was less expensive and so would you, mind you with alzrc upgrades if sab didn't offer the improvements) Contracts expire, result, clone.

it's a big game out there, enjoy your rc heli while you still have them, I know I do whatever it is, all cars have four wheels.

apologies for going long

In the US it is called R&D Research & Design, in China it is R&D Research & Duplicate.

I'm finishing up a Goblin 380 and here is what I see. I see an Italian design manufactured somewhere in the Pacific Rim possibly Vietnam. It's impossible to say with certainty but SAB may be using Kasama or their supplier chain for their parts and again I see nothing wrong with it. As far as intellectual property is concerned it's my feeling that SAB is focusing on their product development as opposed to their litigational skills. It is very difficult to protect IP in that part of the world, one way that you do it is to develop a diverse vendor base and not share the total design with any one vendor. Reverse engineering is inevitable. The Chinese have no compunction when it comes to cracking software or ripping off designs, they're like Geico, "it's what they do".

A company with a pair of calipers, a Faro/Romer arm with 3D scanning software can develop a Devil 380 in a very short period of time using Siemens NX, ProE, Solidworks or any number of Solid Modelers. A few tweaks in design, a few cosmetic tweaks to the glass work and a good vendor base will result in a copy done most likely within a few months. Go out with a low price, add motor and ESC to the combo and you have folks attention.

You can spend your time innovating or litigating. I can tell you that companies that innovate last longer than companies that litigate. The companies that relied on litigation and forgot how to innovate are lying in landfills all over the world.

I would like to see an American company build helicopters again but honestly it's not what we as a nation are good at. Sure, Carbon Extreme is out there and I wish them nothing but the best but honestly they aren't a factor in this market.

With the crap going on with the FAA, a down market in general and the rise of stabilized aerial appliances our hobby is shrinking. I weighed getting a Devil and I'm sure it is a good machine but we need some hobby shops here in the US, we need a strong enough vendor for some parts support going forward, so I weighed the variables and bought a Goblin from a US based shop. I'm looking forward to seeing a Devil in the flesh but I've got enough Kung Fu models gathering dust in the basement from a slew of testing that took place a few years ago and I'm not saying that the Devil would be one of those. In my experience, I may have paid too much for some things but I've never been disappointed when buying good quality products and paying a fair price.

If all you do is support the cloners, eventually the people who ACTUALLY design and innovate will be gone. Then you will never have any new models, just the same old clones....Don't support these guys, they are thieves plain and simple...
