After about 18 months of parts famine, I've survived flying the whole time and finally bridged the gap and received my first order from Josef!! Check it out below, box opened with parts that were inside.

He says next year they should be releasing some kits, so we're back in business guys

OWB

Josef says he's got one rated to 15,500 rpms working perfectly but the manufacturer is going to send him a new design OWB that will work up to 19000 rpms which he will test next weekend. That's what I know.

I think its great that parts are back but $20 for each tail gear is steep. Its like there using an old Robbe price list.

The price does not concern me. What concerned me was the unavailability . I am very glad to hear production has started. I do hope they offer a Whiplash gasser kit!!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I will definitely put a whip gas on my list the day Rons starts stocking them. Hopefully they get the few issues they had fixed like the leaking fuel tank and OWB. They really should just put the OWB back onto the main gear hub, less issues there.

wonder what changes overall they plan on doing... would love to have a whip gas with an 30cc and extended boom running 800s....

Did they say if the new OWB they are testing is drop in fit or does it require a new bell.

Great, great news!

Do they have plans to keep manufacturing and selling parts for Spectra and X-Cell?

My Spectra has been more hanging from the wall than flying, and then only very gently at that, in fear of a mishap calling for some impossible-to-find part.

If parts become widely available again it would be awesome.

I met Josef and Judith tonight

Wonderful couple, we had a nice time together Josef says the web site should be up in a couple of weeks, I'll venture to guess meaning by the end of this month as he is in the US now for a week.

He said they will also make parts for the Spectra-g as well as the Whiplash which is getting a new design down the road to move the one way to the main gear. Also the main and tail gears have been redone now with CNC cutting so they are perfectly true and less noisy to run, plus one of them is aluminum probably meaning it will last and not get damaged most likely in the event of bad landing.

by the sounds of it, they seem to know what the issues are and how to fix them properly.

I seriously hope that Rons starts stocking up on them...any word on that happening or is Rons just gonna start drop shipping them like he started to do with align?

read somewhere that the apparent peak in this hobby was around 2008 and has been on a steady decline since...I it seems to have merit based on what we have all seen and even experienced first hand. I hope they can revive at least this one brand name and keep it going... if they keep the prices right and dont go over board trying to keep too many models "alive" things should be ok.

I did ask him about that

Josef said the prices will be the same as they were back in 2013 with the exception of the new tail/transmission gears. Those used to be molded stock parts that MA modified, now they are CNC cut delrin and aluminum and the cost will be about $21 for those but they should last until you damage them some way.

I also asked him about shipping of parts and keeping the cost down for that, and he said he could ship German post, prices are about $6 for a small box about 500 grams (1/2 kilo), for 1 kilo its $10, and for 2 kilo its about $17. If you have something long like tail boom, boom supports, torque tube, etc, then it would be a little more as the box is too big. This shipping will take about a week to get there, I'm thinking up to 2 weeks worst case with holiday mail for example.

You could also get fast shipping with UPS (like 2 day) if you want it quick, but of course it would cost more.

Thats great info Raja, thanks for sharing.

So if I understand this right, is the plan for the Whiplash to first release an updated pinion OWB for current owners to retrofit, and then later the full redesign with the OWB in the main?

When they get to that point is there any thought to sell an upgrade/conversion frameset for existing owners?

Also be interested to hear your experiences flying the new gears... see if there is any compelling reason to change over if your existing gears are still functional.
