gyrone

`well, never flew one before, but sure seem to have a bug for one, I fly scale helicopters and mostley large scale warbirds and turbine jets for a friend of mine, but was looking at the Gyrone, both the one with canopy, and the one without, also the calidus 50 just wondering if anyone has one of these machines or knows anything about them, they look fairly easy to fly, so thinking of one for my winter project, thanks for responding, did not think I would hear anything because of the rarity of these machines, I mentioned these at my club and no one seems to care or think much about these cool aircrafts, but, maybe will have to start something next flying season

Horrible. A person that I fly with has one. To date, it has only made it off the ground once. The first 3 times rolled over and crashed on takeoff. Really needs a pre-rotor, metal parts are poor quality (had to make a part to fix a broken part), just overall a complete waste of money.

There is a nice AC 10 out of Europe but significantly more money.

I would not recommend but to each their own

No I don't think that was the case. If you look at FlightTest attempts with it, you will see even they aren't giving it rave reviews

As I said though, to each there own. If you have one, why don't you tell us how great it is and what you really like about it?

Two rotors are easier than one.

Autogyros are a fun diversion. They are good at high alpha or AoA. If you have the bug to try one, Al Foot's Twirl flies great. I built the one in the video off his free plans over at rcg. The one in the video is modded with a full fuselage and lights.

I also have a Durafly Auto G. Being a single rotor, take offs are tricky. Without enough headspeed, it wants to roll into the ground. I highly recommend the pre-rotator if you get one. Here's mine with leds.

I agree fully....one reason for a pre-rotor but that was not available on it. The quality of the material on this particular one was very poor. If you have it and like it, that is great...I just spoke of the one I dealt with
