I know its hard to say without a video but I have one of those new F3C 800s. It has a violent shake that comes and goes. You can see it in the skids. Only 2 hovers and tried a different set of main and tail blades no different. Any ideas?
Thanks, T

Skid vibes, something in the head.

I disassembled the entire rotor head but everything looks fine. I have another built head I will try, easiest thing to do to eliminate the head I guess...

Did you grease the feathering shaft? Are the main blades too tight?

Sounds like improper head dampening. Go with softer dampeners;

unless is a dfc.
then you have no choice but to go up or down on RPM to get outside the harmonic range, and good luck w that.

The problem may be aggravated with too high cyclic gain on the FBL unit.

At what RPM is this happening?

Well I've tried everything from 1500 to 1800 rpm no improvement. It is a non DFC head and I ordered some different dampers. But starting to think it might be the controller because it comes and goes in flight. Maybe try turning the first pot, cyclic gain down?? Would be my luck to be that simple..

I encountered a similar problem with too high of a cyclic gain different heli), but also had it with a Goblin 770 and stock blades at similar RPM range. It would go away at around 1800, too high of RPM for hover or sport flying. It had almost zero give on the spindle/dampeners.

How much give or movement is in your spindle?
If none, then is a dampener issue.

are the main blades very loose I've had to tighten mines really good to reduce shaking

I've had the blades tight enough, the head is all stock Align. It felt nice and smooth but cant remember how much give it had. I have it all apart right now. I've built 5-6 Align helis plus a few crash's in between and never had a shake like this. I have a set of the red Align dampers what they call "F3C". I could try them. When I get home I will look at the cyclic gain pot. Maybe its turned up, I never even checked it.

Unless you were way off getting the blue light at 6 degrees in step J then you should be able to go pretty high on the gain without it shaking especially at the lower rpms your running.

Anytime I have something like that happen, I will turn the cyclic gyro off (zero gains) and hover it. It's really the only way to rule out the gyro issue. It won't go crazy (I would not fly it around w/o gyro).

So we didn't turn the gyro off, but did turn the cyclic gain down to 1/4. It was better at the higher head speeds but still shakes. (on Roll). Different grips, head block, dampers, all new bearings in the head, 2 sets of blades, main gear, gyro pad. Step J, blue at 6 degrees. Everything greased and assembled properly. Going to try a different controller. Don't think its that but its all that's left...

That kinda tells ya is a damper issue, too stiff for the mean RPM.

Changing units may not help.

That is why we said turn the gyro to zero, nothing crazy will happen at hover but you'll be able to pin point the dampeners or the FBL gyro

yep. I'd still shut the gyro off; you don't want a new gyro hiding mechanical issues.

Are the roll servos slop free? I've had that happen and discovered ( after shutting the gyro down) there was a servo issue.

good luck,

Tim

OK, just I've never tried no bar... But I will try that before anything else and report. Thanks! Flew my other 800 pro today after a major overhaul and she's just as solid and smooth as could be with close to the same setup.

Just hover ! no fancy piro-flips.

All you want to see if it's the mechanics or electronics.

We did this with the GMP stuff years ago and actually flew them in aerobatics (not great ones)!

Finally got a chance to try this again. With the gain all the way down, still a shake at 1600. With the gain at 50% (pot in the middle) and RPM at 1850, smooth with no shake. Guess its just going to have to fly ay 1850. Equally as painful is finding out the model is $300 less today then 2 months ago when I bought it. ugg!
