Been thinking about building a quad/hexo/octo copter you can sit in/on and fly!

Anyone on here attempted this or have setup suggestions?

I was thinking 4x 30" props or 8x 20" but the problem is finding large props with low pitch below 8", 30 x 6 would be great if I could find any?

How about 4x 600 heli airframes with semi symmetrical blades? I think I would run into problems getting the collective pitch to work with the fbl/multirotor controller?

Yup, I saw a video fairly recently with a "sit in" type multi rotor setup...... interesting to watch, had you on the edge of your seat a few times....

If you search for it on youtube I'm sure you'll find it.....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

I'm not an engineer and don't ever plan to build something like this but I'm thinking if I were to build a gas powered quad I would run a hybrid type set up where the engine runs a generator and all the motors are electric.

Hmm be interesting to see which would be lighter, all electric or hybrid electric.

Whatever you do, never strap your butt into a full size FP quad. With a quad, if one motor fails, that is it for you. A hex? Maybe. An octo? Sure. Or how about that 54 up there (that was awesome!)

Just no quad.

You could lean towards the other motors and maybe stay up? Your right though the more the merrier.

Even if you could use body English, which sounds tenable at best, the rotor opposite the failed rotor would have to decrease power to almost nothing so as not to roll over. So effectively your single failure would lead to a reduction in half total power.

An FP quad would have control and power issues galore. Better bring a parachute.

Even a CP quad would suffer the issue of having to bring the lift of the motor opposite the failed motor to near zero. That opposite motor would be relegated to control and stability function and again you'd have effectively lost half your motors.

At least a CP quad could autorotate.

FP you want as many as possible. If I'm riding in it, 54 sounds about right.
