So I took the plunge and picked up a Vcontrol. I like the radio, definitely different from Futaba. The manual is good but lacking info on many settings that are in the radio. I know they assume that the end user has experience with setups and Mikado products but a few extra pages of explanation would be cool. The plastic case feels a little "thin" I guess is the word. The cable that comes with the sat receiver is too short and seeing that its a 4 wire cable, its not easily changed by the user. I was surprised by the screen quality seeing as how cheap LCD screens are today. The screen should be a nice LCD.
I was very surprised that in order to use a NEO you had to make your own cable to connect it to the sat. Its not a big deal to pull the pins and add to 3 wire connectors, BUT for the price of the NEO and Vcontrol it should be included. Not everyone has or bought the NEO with vlink.
Overall I am happy with it and it is really priced competitively seeing that the new 18SZ is $1100 (but that has a nice 4.3" LCD touch screen). Really like the ease of programming without the PC and setting up a new machine literally takes minutes.

Most people buy the Vlink NEO and don't need the cable. Mikado is releasing the cable, it just is not here yet.

If you ever owned a 14MZ and had that display break or having to send it in every year for service, you would understand the display and concept. Plus the frame rate for that radio is 22ms with 1024 resolution, the VControlis much faster (5ms with a VLink NEO) and 4096 resolution...I would much rather have performance

All good points Ron. Flew it today on my Goblin 380, very impressed with the feel. Just need to open up the radio to tighten the collective gimbal just a touch. Very happy with it overall.

Glad to hear your liking your new Vcontrol. I was one that had a 14mz with a touch screen issue. Over the weekend I assisted a couple of pilots in tightening their collective stick. They seem real loose from the factory and very simple to adjust to your liking.

Do they still make the silver ones? The others look a little cheap to me...I wouldn't mind spending a little more for just a bit more style.

Also, any plans to add trims so I can use for old school stuff. Biggest quirk for me! I wouldn't think this should cost that much to add.
