The Unites States FAA just announced (not even 30 mins ago) that they plan to enforce each one of you to register your UAS, big and small. This is exactly what we all were concerned about and the reason I post it here is because it will have major impacts on how buying and selling is done. If something is not said or done to push the FAA back you will not be buying or selling anything as usual, but will have to go through a lengthy paperwork process "just like Guns" in order to transfer your machines to someone else. This is planned to take place around June of 2016 and will involve all UAS (including planes). If you want RCgroups and online buying to remain open and accessible as it is today, NOW is the time to reach out to your elected leaders in your state and ask them to push back. Also reach out to the FAA and let them know that this is going to destroy online commerce for UAS consumers (hobbyists and professionals).

I think first they have to decide what is a drone? Is it anything with a camera? If so would you be able to sell it with out a camera? Then sell the camera separate?
If it turns out that it is anything that flies remote control. Then we are all in trouble!

Just my .02 cents!

Alarmist.

This has been a discussion for the past few days... Not sure why you think it is 30 minute old news. No one knows what will or will not be covered in this (if it actually takes effect), the least of all the government.

Do you think G-men in cheap suits are going to go to fly-ins each weekend to check for people's papers? Perhaps they could be identified with a red armband.

Lengthy paperwork for guns? Maybe in New York, not in many other states.

Yeah. yeah.

Here is the link to the new Registration page on their site. Right now it says hobbyists are excluded.

Rich from AMA stated they need to consider small aircraft that have a limited lifespan. Meaning some just are in pieces so a long term registration wouldnt be ideal.

Relax. It will not impact buying or selling on here or anywhere. In fact, it will not impact the hobbyists at all, other than you'll have to cough up 5 bucks to register yourself.

Registration took me 5 mins. It only cost 5 dollars and you get a FA UAS# to put on all of your helis/multis. You only have to do it once and that number can be used on all of them. Just take it off before you sale it. I put it right next to my ama number. Not a big deal.

We Build, We Fly, We Crash! Then start all over again.
