Lean low end. If its an os engine, set the slotted screw to the factory setting.

Agree with Bparro sounds lean in the low end....

Do the "pinch test"......

With the motor fully warmed up and at idle, pinch the fuel line going to the carb.... the motor should run for about 3-5 seconds as the idle speed rises and then the motor shuts off..... This indicates a decent low needle setting (approximately)

With the low speed setting you currently have, I would expect that when you do the pinch test, you'll see the RPM's almost immediately rise sharply and the motor will die in a couple or three seconds....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

OK I'll check it tomorrow.

Idle was at factory setting or slightly richer during my tweaking.

If it hangs on the pipe with a cool backplate the low end may be lean. If it hangs on the pipe with a warm/hot backplate then open the high speed needle.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

I need the idle screw fully rich on my OS105 to stop the cackling at idle.

60% of the time, it works every time!

If the clutch is not disengaging (high idle) when you hit hold, you can get a similar sound.

Is the idle set fairly low?

It's low enough to not grab the bell at idle or throttle hold.

You can easily check the "tuning" of the low end by doing the pinch test I described above.... have you tried it ???
