faa.gov had not bothered with the hobby 336 from 2012 to 2014 until r/c activity was by the nationwide community based S.C.
My point was not that this drone registry thing is trouble ... it is...

My point was that website linkwas tin foil conspiracy stuff. Go peruse some of the content there, its all white supremacist, radial hate group christian theocracy propaganda.

My point was
don't blame the messenger [faa.gov] for upholding the message [AMA-Congress-DOT]
October 21, 2015 at 21:54
Since they will be registered aircraft, then I assume that I will be able to fly them at untowered airports, and maybe even class D airspace, just use a Unicom frequency or tower freq at class D, just like every other registered aircraft.
If we crash our RC aircraft, will it be investigated by the NTSB, and the FAA?
One other question, can I get a registration number for my Frisbee?
now how silly this is! [nicely put]

Probably the best way to register these so called aerial appliances is to have the manufacturer apply a stop code at the factory into the firmware on board. Once the timer is started on the stop code, the operator has so many days to learn the operation of the aerial appliance in a limited flight envelope. When the timer gets near the end of the cycle the registration must be submitted in order to have either an extend or a release code generated to enable the aerial appliance to fly in a free mode, otherwise, if there is no registration there are no flights, the aerial appliance shuts down. At some point I would want the operator to have to undergo a proficiency exam.

I know this sounds like a lot of BS and it is, I don't think the FAA has the manpower or the wherewithal to pull it off and I'm sure the AMA will howl and scream at the possibility but if you really want to control the airspace, the registration has to be implemented at the manufacturing level and through import controls. I'm quite sure that all the aerial appliance manufacturers won't be in favor of it because it has the potential to curtail their business.

This is what this situation is coming to. The business practices of the manufacturers have brought us to this point in the proliferation of aerial appliances so here we are. As far as I can tell no one that flies models will be affected by anything the FAA, DOT or NHTSA does going forward. If the FAA wants to control the use of aerial appliances in the NAS this is the very best way to get absolute control of the situation. I will say at the outset that they better get ready for a huge black market because it will come.....always does.

Hang onto that idea with a death grip. I still won't fault the manufactures. They broke no laws with their innovations, created a nice business for themselves and produced a great product for the consumers. I place blame only on the idiot operators.

However, I do like your ideas you have proposed. If there has to be regulation, make it yield true results. Simple registration is not the answer IMO.

Laws don't have to be broken to be complicit. I fault the manufactures because they knew full well what they were making and how it would affect all of us. They don't care because they can sell way many more than dozens of times the number of AMA members and they knew the numbers weren't there to stop them. What they didn't foresee is how stupid/ignorant the public can be when it comes to these aerial appliances they were making. The real question is how much resolve does FAA have to really control the importing of these devices with stop codes. No other method will control the proliferation of the devices and that's really what this is about....control of the devices themselves.

It kind of looks like this flight was coordinated with the air traffic. It seems like it was part of the opening ceremony. If everything is coordinated and flown by qualified experienced pilots, I see nothing wrong with the video. Nothing.

In 1913 the congress quietly snuck the income tax upon us and said "don't worry" only the top 1% of the richest folks will ever pay it. In the 70s, seat belt(and other) laws came into being and they said "don't worry" it will NEVER be a primary offense. Now they say "don't worry" we're not going to make you register your toys. . . The Camel's nose is in the tent and it's only a matter of time before our hobby will be legislated out of existence "for our own safety". It might not seem like it now, but this is one of the most onerous things I have seen yet from this "government".
