The article says they also disrupt GPS . . . as in way points . . .

Note, last time I looked, none of those quad things use inertial navigation.

The GPS frequencies are lower than 2.4 GHz

Consult the oracle,

TAM 5 used a *mechanical* internal navigation system in 2003 - amazing stuff Mr. Hill created here!

looks like that's not totally correct. I was remembering the article where he had soldered together a vacume based system for altitude control but some of the navigation was GPS based.
Programmed at 1000 feet, altitude was measured by an air-pressure-based altimeter and periodically corrected with GPS measurements. The aileron controlled rate of turn, measured with a piezoelectric gyro. Operating conditions were transmitted by radio telegraphy, with data including airplane position, altitude, speed, and heading as well as engine speed and control surface positions.

Yaw and pitch were stabilized but navigation was strictly GPS, not inertial.

Maynard was a friend of mine. I did not meet him until about 5 years after the flight. He was such an inquisitive mind and a really nice guy. At his remembrance, we all flew balsa gliders for distance of course.

He was a very memorable guy and so very detail oriented. Our club continues to this day to help students at the University of Maryland with their ideas and testing.
