Looks great Butch! All that hard work sanding will pay off with nice smooth molds.

UIH,

"Beer makes you feel, like you should feel, without beer"

Thanks guys. I sure hope this schit works.

It was a productive day. Made the parting boards for the wing and stab schnizzle. Made templates sometime ago so went pretty smooth after some fine adjustments.

A couple o pic's

UIH,

What up Stan?

I am hoping to see a fuse by mid winter if things go well. Maybe sooner, we will see.

I have all the other systems ready to go, just need the bag to stuff them in.

UIH,

The first mold for my Sikorsky S-67 Blackhawk has been cast.

It has been many years since I have made molds so began with something simple, the upper half of the LH stabilizer.

I set up the part with the parting board and some lumber to elevate the part being molded.

I started with a beginners roll of glass cloth.

I cut the rough shape from the cloth for the upper half and lower molds, a total of 12 layers, 6 each side.

The tools and supplies required for this process.

Detail of tool and supplies.

The end results.

Tomorrow I will clean up the upper half, remove the parting board and if all work as it is supposed to, I will lay up the bottom half.

UIH,

B

Wax on wax off, just don't wax off too much. What no tooling gel coat? Did you start the first layer with 2 oz. cloth and work your way up to 6oz? Starting with the lighter cloth is better because it will form to your plug better.

UIH

Well its a good thing I started with a small part.

The mold is not bad but there are some areas that need a little work. The master is in good shape so will take 2.

This is a learning process of sorts. Yes I forgot the tooling coat.

Duhhhhh!!!

Looks like it was "bagged" and not a "hand lay up".
