So I just bought a used blade 450 flybarless in great condition. I've been flying a blade 200 for some time and thought it was time to upgrade. The 450 has been upgraded with a Curtis Youngblood total G system. However, it only has 1 satellite receiver yet I'm reading it needs at least two. I have a spektrum DX6i I'm going to bind with it. Will I need to redownload anything for the total G and is the setup with the DX6i fairly easy? I'm an intermediate flyer. Thanks.

Generally a 450 or smaller heli is quite happy with a single satellite receiver. 500 and up is where you need at least two. I notice that the manual lumps the 450 sized heli in with larger models such as 500 and 550 sized helis. That's kind of an odd breakpoint, but I guess Curtis was being conservative when the manual was written.

Thx...I noticed when I plugged in battery I had swash plate and tail functions..but the swash plate controls are completely backwards..wasn't sure if that was from only one receiver or having to reprogram. I programmed spektrum dx6i to manual specs and still backwards.

One receiver won't make everything go nuts. Incorrect programming, will.

Read the Total G manual.

The collective swash movement is supposed to be backwards due to Blade's retarded design of going with trailing edge control on the main blades versus leading edge control like 99.9% of all collective pitch helis. Down swash movement on the mainshaft is actually a positive collective pitch input to the blades and vice versa. So, up is down and down is up. Apparently, Blade thought that was a good idea and not potentially confusing at all. One of their own so-called "pros" bit himself in the ass by getting it wrong and immediately crashing on a re-maiden after a previous crash because he couldn't figure out why he was at full collective/throttle yet the heli was trying to drill itself down through the earth back home to China. What does he do? He hits throttle hold, chops the collective and the heli instantly goes to full positive pitch with zero throttle and a ton of headspeed which causes it to immediately shoot up, lose headspeed and crash. Good job, Blade.

Read the Blades.

Yup... that is why I always teach looking at the blades rather than any other component in the control system. The blades will always get it right for you. Same with tail blades, that pinch test will get you pinched.

Wasn't aware of this..thx for the info. Yeah I don't want to crash it. I got pretty decent with the 200, was ready to make the jump to the 450. Yea I would be pretty upset too if my heli slammed itself in the ground. I have some time this weekend to look into it in more detail..wish I had more time. I'm posting another question regarding the total G flybarless system currently installed on it..let me know if you have any knowledge regarding it. Thanks fellas for the help thus far.
