I'm just a little worried about this. I treat my flight lipos and rx lipos like bombs when they are not in use or chargin, in a ammo can surrounded by bags of sand. What makes a lipo in a radio safer?

Also if it does fail it will take out the radio which would suck and being that there is no battery door it's not just as simple to check to see if it's puffing when charging or getting old.

Guess I'm gonna have to get shorter bolts to make it easier to take the back of the radio off evertime when charging or in storage, not going to risk it. I wonder why the choice to have no battery door seems like a weird omission to me.

Single cell vs multi cell does reduce risk considerably, IMHO.

Also the charger is in the tx, which may be monitored for safe voltage at all times.

Enjoy things that money can buy IF you don't lose the things money can't buy.

Yes but it's still a lipo. Like some unfortunate forum guys who flew for years with no issues and then they burn down their house, garage or shed. They were using a charger monitoring the batt but still failed to stop a catastrophic event. Charging inside the radio feels like unattended lipo charging to me, one cell or not it's still a lipo and things can happen, it only takes once.

Phone and handheld game lipo batts have caused issues that I've read before as well so it's not a far fetched possibility. Probably gonna make my own battery hatch Id just rather not take the chance stay safe guys.

my dx8 has had a lipo in it for almost 2 years, I have charged it 3 times since.
I feel they are safe because:
1: they hardly ever need to be recharged compared to nimhs or NiCad

2: they are in a protected case "TX" and can't be damaged. in fact mine has not left the TX since I installed it.

3: they are never over discharged nor are they subjected to high discharge. so they never puff!!

4:it is probably the safest use of this type of battery, even cell phone batteries go through more cycles with out incident.

when using lipo in a low discharge environment they last several years

spending time, paying attention

Thanks for your guys opinions and experience. I've always just been old skool and used Nicds or Nimh for my batts and this is honestly the first radio Ive used a lipo with since well it comes with it, if I had the option I probably would've just opted to put a NiMh in it or at least a battery door, lol. Well anyways, off to the drawing board haha. Late.
