New singer? LOL! Can't be too hard on DLR for not being able to make "Runnin' With The Devil" come to life again. 1978...we were all kids when that was released! LOL! Love seeing Eddy shredding up like old times though. Gotta love those tunes for sure!

Not sure what's up with DLR chewing gum whilst singing at a gig though. WTF?

Kind of awkward looking to have a bigass bandage out there. I can't imagine DLR will finish the tour with them this year. He and Eddie just cannot get along at all.

This sure brought back the memory of seeing them in '81. Tour was Women And Children First. DLR was on his A-game, and Eddie was really exploding. WOW, those were some exciting times.

Thanks for sharing this, Gearhead!

DLR had fallen and broken his nose shortly before this show. The bass player is Eddie's son, Wolfgang.

I heard there was some frackus about VH trying to keep Sammy from singing the stuff he wrote when he was with them.. Should not be an issue cause none of them can sing any of them for damn sure....

If in doubt lean it out . We don't do this to save money, we save money to do this

Eddie seems to have invited a good bit of difficulty in working with others. Sammy was quoted recently in response to statements made by Eddie from a magazine interview. Eddie was dissing Michael Anthony. Sammy told it like it was in his true style.

Makes me think maybe DLR wasn't always the problem we were led to believe. Guess it's hard to be as talented as EVH and not have problems checking the ego at the door.

Eddie is the Lead-G, his is the only one and he is great, he has a Big Head so he feels things should be his way,, this is what happen with the Eagles and Floyd and many others,,

on another note, I have heard people agree to, that, Eddie is great, but he is the most wasted talent in the history Heavy Rock,, why,, because as great as his music is (unlike Floyd, Zeppelin, the Who and others) Eddie's music is just too commercial

Thanks for posting that. I heard about this on Eddie Trunk's show on XM during my drive home today and kind of forgot to look it up.

Apparently, this recent mess started last week, when Trunk had the Red Rocker (Hagar) on his podcast, and he made some Van Halen related comments.... I don't know what they were (I got home and didn't sit in the truck listening to the test of the 4 hour show!).

EVH was slamming Mike Anthony and Sammy was defending him. No love lost between those 2.

Well thanks a lot Gearhead!!....

Tonight basically turned into Van Halen night...been watching videos and interviews last few hours....old David Letterman w. DLR, EVH, just about anything V/H. Pretty good interesting stuff!

Again thanks for the thread!

Didn't realize they were such 'outcasts' when they first started, (right smack
in the middle of the disco craze), that, right straight from an interview w.
Eddie........

wasn't it Shawn Penn (or his brother) that saved Brook Shields life from drowning, and then used the reward money to have VH to play at his home ??

or is that all BS ??
