if you are successfully hovering cp helis on the sim, you can get a real cp. First real aircraft I flew was a raptor 30. So it can be done. But I'd mastered the sim.
If you can discipline yourself to achieve sim mastery before flying, go for it. Long term it can be cheaper.
But if you're the type that gets itchy to fly the real deal and skips sim work, that can be catastrophic. In that case, the coax and fixed pitch helis can get you in the air faster. You'll have less spent on these helis but far less future with them as they are limited.
