Hi,
I believe there are many people who just stick on the GY401 and fly with HH. Then after a few flights, you notice that the tail is not holding well and blame the gyro. This is because you did not set up the mechanical tail link well.

In normal mode, you have to adjust the tail linkages until the tail can hold. Then you proceed to HH.

But if you start off with HH, you will not know if the tail mechanics are set up well.

A point to take note

Normal Mode

In normal mode, is the stick supposed to be proportional to the tail movement? It is not in my case. The stick only needs to move about 1/3 that the tail reachs its end point. The funny thing is, if you continue to move the stick, the tail does not move any further, so there is not really any binding. Is this normal?

What's da beef?

I have fallen into habit of assembleing the tail linkages as follows, and I would like to know if there is any hidden traps waiting for me.

First, put the tail shaft slider in the middle of its travel, half-way between stops.

Second, use the transmitter to center the servo, with the arm precisely vertical.

Third, adjust linkage length to exactly fit the space between.

Go Fly Whad'dya think???

I guess you have to fly in normal mode to see if your step one is correct. If the tail blades deflection can hold the tail at that position, then it should be alright.
