I just bought and install a ys91srx in my rave. is it normal for fuel to leak from the barrel? anyone know if the carb assy from the sr will be interchangeable with the srx?

When is it leaking out? are you venting the pressure in the fuel tank after you fly?
Or, if its pouring out, the regulator may have something stuck in it, tank pressure would push fuel through.

i noticed the fuel seeping out around the barrel when i land. I vent the pressure in the tank and close the clamp on the fuel line feeding the carb then if i hold the heli on its side i can see fuel drip out arouns the barrel on either side of it. i have this engine soo rich and it still seems lean i have about 2 turns on all needles. i have gone thru the fuel system from the clunk in the tank up to the regulator found no leaks. i pulled the regulator and the throttle barrel couldnt find anything stuck any where. I am trying everything before i have to send this engine to japan.

How old is the engine? it may have a bad front bearing and the fuel is running down around the carb.
If the bearings are good I would be trying a new check valve first, then looking for an air leak, make sure you are building good pressure in the fuel tank, then you will be able to lean those needles a little.

the engine is a couple weeks old. I contacted YS in Japan and they are sending me a new carb. it seems like they honed the carb where the barrel fits a little too much. I got it running ok today but the needles are past double of the recommended break in settings.

Something does not seem right of your needles are that far out. Are you sure that the fuel coming out of the carb isnt just a result because it is set so rich?. The mid (hover) needle should only be about 1-3/4 turns out and the high speed needle should be around 1-1/4 turns out for initial settings. You also mentioned that it SEEMS like it is running lean. What exactly is it doing?. A little more info would be good. Also, if their sending you a new carb thats great. I`ve had good luck with YS service over the years. Good luck.

I hope you get your problem figured out. I have mine set pretty close to factory settings on the needles and my engine temps seem pretty good and the glow plug has good color to it. I`m sure I could lean mine out a bit but it runs so good why bother. I prefer to keep it on the safer side of things with the needle settings. I also have to say it is the most consistant running engine that I`ve ever had. YS hit a home run with this one.

I sent YS an email describing my issue and told them I believe the issue is in the carb and they shipped me a new carb. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I will post more details later. thanks for the suggestions
