Man, It's a great feeling is'nt it

Autos are a lot of fun , I always shoot a few autos when my timer goes off and there's a bit of fuel still in the tank .

Congratulations,

I did about 10 powered desents from about 50/60 feet to get my line up right and then just hit hold and dont panic.
good luck I will also be doing some more in the new year.

Way to go!!! Learning the auto will come in handy. I had a ball link come off my tail this weekend and had to hit the hold switch to stop from pirouetting then went into a auto. By being able to auto saved me a least 150. this weekend.

auto's are great, i remember my first one, at the top of a loop my engine flamed out......first thing i thought was $$$$$ but somehow i made it. i checked out the heli and everything was cool fired it up again and another flame out ....second auto of the day, saved it again but had to clean out my shorts, turned out the bottom of the gallon of fuel was bad and would die after a few minutes. new gallon and end of flame out's

Make sure you get all the pieces...

This is how I learned autos and would thoroughly recommend it. The most dangerous bit is the last few feet, so do it first. With good head speed in the hover at just above head height, flick to throttle hold. Don't worry, you have LOADS of blade inertia, but DO remember to fly the heli, ie, lower it smartly but smoothly to the ground. So...you've done the hard bit, now climb up and do the same thing from height. It you blow it, flick to normal mode and bin the approach, sooner than later! My best autos (Raptor 60) are with idle up 2, ie with the full negative capability. The model can hover prior to touchdown for about 4 seconds, such is the head speed generated. Do it!

Don't talk to me about Autos

Iv been flying IC helis for 3 months, On Sunday I tryed my e First ever Auto. Did 7 or more ok, not the smoothest and had throttel set up to kick in when stick is at full! (just in case).

Then......(Bang!) Heli dropped its nose and went in! Not sure what happened, I think i Put Pitch in to early when nose was pointing too much down and it pulled the heli forwards and over! Oh dear!

Oh well Im sure Ill get up the balls to try it again when the heli is fixed!

This is a little off topic but....

Im very new and can barely hover in my simulator. But for some reason i can Auto in the simulator just fine. I landed like 10 in a row. What is the difference from the sim to real life. Im sure that its not that easy.

SIms

Oh yeh, I can do it every time on the sim + Do inverted Autos with flips or roll on exit 90% of the time (I have too much time on my hands!). And I supose I did pull off a fare few on my first ever attempts in (real Life) you could say. Life just has lots of surprises to chuck at you when you least expect. But thats what this hobby is all about!
