On my trex 700n. Once I take off and start to hover the tail start to jerk left and right. I can still control it but it's sporadic. Any thoughts?

It sounds like your tail servo is preparing to die or your tail control is sticking somewhere...perhaps the tail slider? I had a JR8900G that started with small un-commanded turns of 10-30 degrees. I wasn't sure what the cause was. Shortly after, it began doing 170-200 degree piros by itself. That's when I changed the tail servo and the problem went away.

Good luck in finding your problem.

I am not familiar with Align electronics. All my stuff is VBAR, MKS, Futaba, or JR.
Sorry, can't help you with that question.

I am assuming you are flying a flybarred heli. So for just a tail gyro I would recommend Futaba or Spartan. For tail servos, Futaba or MKS. If flybarless, VBAR. I was a JR transmitter guy before I switched to a VBControl. However, I have never had good luck with JR gyros or tail servos, so I can't recommend those.

Weather didn't change and throw your engine out of tune causing a vibration did it? Just thinking out loud and hoping for a possible easier fix for you just wondering simply because of the time of year

Perhaps slop has developed in your T/R control linkages. How much slop do you get when you hold the control rod and try to manually change the T/R pitch? If it's more than about 1°, that's too much. The ball cup on the bellcrank arm to slider connection tends to wear out.

Sounds like tail control rod guide has become unsecured and moved on the tail boom towards the helicopter body on the front side or moved towards the tail box on the back end of the boom.

When the tail servo moves the pushrod there may be a momentary bind. The servo attempts to overcome the bind, thus getting into a slingshot effect with the gyro sensors.

If that guide travels far enough it can lock up the tail rod completely.

I've suffered this twice. Not pretty.

Took it to the field and the guys helped my figure out the wag problem. Looks like the tail collars were sticking to the assembly. Anyway to buy just those collars or do I need to buy a whole new tail? 700 flew like a beast.

They are apart of the metal pitch tail assembly. Two brass collars that go around each screw. I ordered the whole assembly to get them.
